AWS Storage Gateway hardware appliance is now available in Europe, and adds more storage and networking options

Posted on: Feb 25, 2019

You can now order and use the AWS Storage Gateway hardware appliance in Europe, expand an appliance’s usable capacity to 12 TB, and choose to use a 10 Gigabit fiber optic network card instead of a copper network card. The expanded storage provides a larger local cache for low-latency access to data stored in AWS. The fiber optic network card provides an additional datacenter deployment option.

AWS Storage Gateway enables hybrid cloud storage for backup, archiving and disaster recovery, application file storage, and data processing workflows. Storage Gateway uses standard storage protocols, so you can use cloud storage without modifying your applications.

The hardware appliance can simplify procurement, deployment, and management of hybrid storage for locations with limited virtual machine infrastructure. The appliance is based on a Dell EMC PowerEdge server with a validated configuration to provide predictable performance. Storage Gateway can also be deployed as a VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Amazon EC2 virtual machine.

You can buy the hardware appliance on Amazon UK or Amazon Germany for delivery within Europe, and on Amazon for delivery in the United States, with an Amazon or Amazon Business account. The appliance can be used with the supported US and EU regions. Learn more on the AWS Storage Gateway web pages and documentation
