Amazon Pinpoint Achieves HIPAA Eligibility

Posted on: Jul 25, 2019

Amazon Pinpoint is now a HIPAA Eligible Service. HIPAA eligibility applies to all AWS Regions where Amazon Pinpoint is available.

Note: HIPAA eligibility doesn't apply to the SMS (text) message and voice message capabilities of Amazon Pinpoint in any AWS Region.

If you have a HIPAA Business Associate Addendum (BAA) in place with AWS, you can now start using Amazon Pinpoint for your HIPAA eligible workloads (excluding SMS and voice messaging workloads).

If you don't have a BAA in place with AWS, or if you have any other questions about running HIPAA-regulated workloads on AWS, please contact us. For information and best practices about configuring AWS HIPAA Eligible Services to store, process, and transmit PHI, see the Architecting for HIPAA Security and Compliance on Amazon Web Services Whitepaper.

With Amazon Pinpoint, you can engage your customers by sending them marketing campaigns and transactional messages through the email, SMS, push, and voice channels. Amazon Pinpoint's analytics tools help you analyze the performance of your engagements and develop a deeper understanding of your users.
