Amazon RDS for SQL Server lowers the cost for High Availability DB Instances

Posted on: Jul 28, 2020

We are happy to announce that we are lowering the price of Amazon RDS for SQL Server Enterprise Edition database instances in the Multi-AZ configuration, for both On-Demand and Reserved purchase types on the latest generation hardware.

On-Demand prices have been reduced by an average of 25% across latest generation instance classes in regions within Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa, North America and South America. All of your On-Demand usage will automatically be charged at the new and lower rates effective July 1, 2020. Reserved Instance prices will also be updated, with new pricing applying to Reserved Instance purchases made on or after August 1, 2020.

Although Reserved Instance purchases are non-refundable, we are making a special exception for customers with existing RDS SQL Server Reserved Instances. For a limited time, you can exchange previously purchased RDS SQL Server Reserved Instances for a new RDS SQL Server Enterprise Multi-AZ Reserved Instance. In connection with the exchange, you’ll receive a pro-rata refund of any upfront fees that you paid on the original Reserved Instance when you purchase your new RDS SQL Server Enterprise Multi-AZ Reserved Instance. If you would like to exchange an RDS Reserved Instance for a new one, simply contact us
