Inmarsat Formulates Plan for IT Innovation Using AWS 30-Day Accelerator

2021

Inmarsat is the world-leading global, mobile satellite communications company, connecting people and organisations to a better, safer and more sustainable future on land, sea and air, every second of every day. Connectivity is not just important for Inmarsat’s customers around the globe – and crucial when it comes to maritime and aviation safety – it is vital for Inmarsat’s business success too. Inmarsat is constantly innovating and evolving its business processes and ways of working to make it easier for customers to do business with them, as well as providing the best digital workspace environment for its staff.

As part of Inmarsat’s continued drive to evolve and transform, Amazon Web Services (AWS) was selected in 2019 to host and modernise business operations, creating an even more responsive, efficient, and scalable model for their customers and employees across the globe. Inmarsat worked closely with AWS on its rapid acceleration programme to create a strategic plan for cloud and infrastructure innovation. In this video, Tim Brown, Senior Director for Cloud and Operations at Inmarsat, explains how, within six months, the company was on track to migrate 65% of its workloads to AWS. As of July 2021, Inmarsat has moved over 80% of its corporate workloads to AWS, has achieved significantly reduced maintenance and support, improved agility and performance, and increased staff productivity, which allows it to continue to innovate at pace.
