AWS Sustainability console overview

The AWS Sustainability console is here — a unified experience that builds on the Customer Carbon Footprint Tool with expanded capabilities to help you measure, track, and reduce your environmental impact across AWS.

What's new?

Water withdrawals data

View your estimated water withdrawals data from using AWS services. Water withdrawal is the total volume of water drawn to support data center cooling for the AWS services you use.

Flexible, customizable reporting

Filter and view your estimated environmental impact by AWS Region, service, usage account, and carbon emissions Scopes 1, 2, and 3. Customize time aggregation (monthly, quarterly, yearly), graph type (bar chart, area chart, table), and fiscal year to match your reporting needs.

Programmatic access via API and SDK

Retrieve your environmental data programmatically through the Sustainability console public APIs and a published SDK, enabling seamless integration into your operational workflows, sustainability planning, and regulatory reporting processes.

Benefits

Your environmental data is calculated using an independently verified, methodology, giving you the credibility you need for investor reporting and regulatory compliance. For carbon, it covers both location-based and market-based emissions.

Access environmental data broken down by AWS Region, service, and usage account in a single, dedicated experience. No more navigating multiple tools or relying on other teams to pull your data.

Access historical carbon emissions data going back to 2022 and water withdrawals data back to 2023, so you can track progress against your sustainability goals and report on multi-year trends from day one.

Use cases

Pull carbon emissions and water withdrawals data across AWS Regions and services to meet growing regulatory requirements and respond to investor sustainability inquiries with third-party verified, transparent data.

Monitor your organization's estimated environmental impact over time, helping you measure progress against internal sustainability commitments and multi-year reduction targets.

Use the AWS Sustainability public APIs and SDK to automatically retrieve carbon and water data and feed it directly into your sustainability planning systems, internal dashboards, or reporting tools.
