AWS Sustainability Console

Track, measure, and review the carbon emissions generated from your AWS usage

AWS Sustainability console overview

The AWS Sustainability console is here — a unified experience that builds on the Customer Carbon Footprint Tool with expanded capabilities to help you measure, track, and reduce your environmental impact across AWS.

What's new?

Standalone access for sustainability practitioners

The AWS Sustainability console operates with permissions controls independent of the Billing console, sustainability teams can access carbon emissions data without requiring billing console permissions.

Flexible, customizable carbon reporting

Filter and view your estimated carbon emissions by AWS Region, service, usage account, and Scopes 1, 2, and 3. Customize time aggregation (monthly, quarterly, yearly), graph type (bar chart, area chart, table), and fiscal year to match your reporting needs.

Programmatic access via API and SDK

Retrieve your carbon emissions data programmatically through the Sustainability console public APIs and a published SDK, enabling seamless integration into your operational workflows, sustainability planning, and regulatory reporting processes.

Benefits

Your carbon emissions data is calculated using an independently verified, methodology that covers both location-based and market-based emissions, giving you the credibility you need for investor reporting and regulatory compliance.

Access emissions data broken down by AWS Region, service, and usage account in a single, dedicated experience. No more navigating multiple tools or relying on other teams to pull your data.

Access historical carbon emissions data going back to 2022, so you can track progress against your sustainability goals and report on multi-year trends from day one.

Use cases

Pull carbon emissions data by Scope 1, 2, and 3 across AWS Regions and services to meet growing regulatory requirements and respond to investor sustainability inquiries with third-party verified, transparent data.

Monitor your organization's estimated carbon footprint over time using historical data available since 2022, helping you measure progress against internal sustainability commitments and multi-year reduction targets.

Use the AWS Sustainability public APIs and SDK to automatically retrieve carbon data and feed it directly into your sustainability planning systems, internal dashboards, or reporting tools.
