With Amazon DataZone, after the preview periods ends, you will be charged a monthly subscription fee of $9.00 per user for the first 500 users, $8.10 per user for the next 500 users, and $7.20 per user for more than 1,001 users. You pay as you go, with no upfront fees and no long-term contracts. You will be charged at the end of each month.

Each monthly user subscription includes 20 MB of metadata storage and 4,000 requests, which are shared across users of your Amazon DataZone domain. For example, if your Amazon DataZone domain has 100 users in a month, then your included amount of metadata storage is 100 users x 20 MB per user, or 2,000 MB (2 GB). After the preview period ends, if you exceed the included amount of metadata storage or requests in a month, then you will be charged a fee at the standard rates listed below.

Free trial

After the preview period ends, AWS customers will be eligible to participate in a free trial. The free trial includes 50 users at no additional cost for the first 3 calendar months of usage. The free trial starts when you first create an Amazon DataZone domain in an AWS account after the preview period ends. If you exceed the number of monthly users during your trial, you will be charged at the standard rates listed below. Included with each free trial monthly user subscription are 20 MB of metadata storage and 4,000 requests per month, which are shared across users of your Amazon DataZone domain. For example, if your Amazon DataZone domain has 25 users in a month, then your included number of requests is 25 users x 4,000 requests per user, or 100,000 requests. If you exceed an included amount in a month, you will be charged fees at the standard rates listed below.

Users

After the preview period ends, you will be charged a monthly subscription fee for each user that you configure to use Amazon DataZone. The free trial includes 50 users at no additional charge. Amazon DataZone users can be either corporate users from your identity provider or AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) users that you configure in AWS IAM Identity Center. You will be charged a prorated fee for the first month a user is configured. For example, if you configured a user on the 14th day of a 30-day billing month such as June, then for this user you would be charged for 14/30 of a month, or approximately 0.467 months. When you remove a user, you will be charged a full user subscription fee for the month in which they are removed.

Metadata storage

After the preview ends, you will be charged for metadata storage if you exceed your included 20 MB per user in a billing month. Metadata storage is the aggregate size of your metadata stored on AWS that describes your Amazon DataZone domains, business glossaries, metadata templates, data projects, users, and data assets. For structured data assets, this comprises the technical and business metadata associated with the asset and its schema. Included with each monthly user subscription is 20 MB of metadata storage. Multiply this by your number of users in a billing month to calculate your aggregate included metadata storage. For example, if your Amazon DataZone domain has 80 users in a month, then your included amount of metadata storage is 80 users x 20 MB per user, which equals 1,600 MB (1.6 GB). If you exceed the included amount of metadata storage in a month, you will be charged a fee at the standard rate listed below.

Requests

After the preview ends, you will be charged for requests if you exceed your included 4,000 requests per user in a billing month. A request is an interaction with Amazon DataZone, whether through the AWS Management Console, the Amazon DataZone portal, an integrated service, or an API. Some of the common requests are invoking a search in the Amazon DataZone portal, viewing data asset details, or creating a data project. Included with each monthly user subscription is 4,000 requests. Multiply this by the number of users in a billing month to calculate your aggregate included requests. For example, if your Amazon DataZone domain has 200 users in a month, then your included amount of requests is 200 users x 4,000 requests per user, which equals 800,000 requests. If you exceed the included number of requests in a month, you will be charged a fee at the standard rate listed below.
