AWS Transform

AWS Transform for migrations

End-to-end agentic migrations to AWS

Accelerate cloud migrations with agentic AI

Enterprise cloud migrations have reached a new level of complexity. Workloads now span VMware, bare metal, Hyper-V, and databases, while teams coordinate across planning, execution, and cutover with no single view of progress or risk. The scale of what needs to move has outpaced the traditional tooling built to move it.

AWS Transform brings together 20 years of migration experience with specialized AI agents, human teams, and partner workflows in one collaborative workbench. The complete migration lifecycle is automated, from discovery through cutover. AWS Transform gives every team a unified way to plan, execute, and track, so migrations that once stretched beyond a year are now completed in months.

Benefits

Stop jumping between disconnected tools and fragmented workflows. AWS Transform provides a single collaborative workspace where project managers, architects, developers, and security engineers work together in real time, guided by purpose-built AI agents that automate the heavy lifting at every stage. From initial discovery through final cutover, every team has one shared view of progress, risk, and next steps. The service supports first-party AWS agents, third-party partner agents, and custom Bring Your Own Agent workflows, so every team can work the way they need to without breaking the shared migration picture.

What once took weeks of manual dependency mapping now takes minutes. AWS Transform's AI agents analyze application dependencies, business priorities, and technical constraints to group workloads into optimized migration waves, minimizing disruption, preserving application integrity, and accelerating cutover. AI-powered assessment engines generate comprehensive TCO projections and business cases in minutes rather than weeks, enabling rapid executive approval and removing the planning bottleneck that kills migration momentum.

AWS Transform converts complex on-premises network configurations into AWS-equivalent constructs (VPCs, subnets, transit gateways) up to 80x faster than manual methods. The service automatically generates Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA) configurations, establishing secure, multi-account AWS environments with consistent governance and security controls before a single workload moves. Output supports CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, and LZA formats, so teams deploy using their preferred infrastructure-as-code toolchain.

AWS Transform supports two migration execution paths based on each workload's needs. For rehosting, the service manages the full lifecycle: deploying replication agents, launching test instances for validation, tracking migration progress, and orchestrating cutover, all directly from the AWS Transform console. For replatforming to containers, existing on-premises applications can be containerized and deployed to Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS as part of the same migration workflow. AWS Transform analyzes source code repositories, generates Dockerfiles, builds container images with integrated security scanning, and produces deployment-ready infrastructure-as-code for the target environment.

During migration wave planning, applications can be assigned to either path, so teams can rehost and replatform in parallel.

AWS Transform for VMware migrations

AWS is the proven destination for VMware workloads, and AWS Transform makes the migration faster than ever. Automate your migration to Amazon EC2 and save on VMware licensing costs.

End-to-end migration

Discovery & assessment

AWS Transform automatically discovers and collects detailed information about your on-premises environment: performance data, network connections, database metadata, and server specifications, whether you're running VMware, bare metal, or Hyper-V. No manual data gathering required. The service supports multiple ingestion formats including RVTools, NetApp DII, Migration Evaluator, and MPA exports, so you're never locked into a single input method. Once discovery is complete, AI-powered analysis generates comprehensive TCO projections and business cases in minutes, giving stakeholders the financial clarity they need to approve and fund the migration with confidence.

Migration planning

Intelligent automation analyzes application dependencies and groups workloads into optimized migration waves based on both technical and business priorities. What once required weeks of manual effort now takes minutes. Through flexible, conversational workflows, teams can customize migration plans to meet specific needs and preferences, adjusting wave composition, sequencing, and timing. AWS Transform considers interdependencies, compliance requirements, and business criticality to ensure each wave minimizes risk and maximizes throughput, so your migration maintains momentum from day one.

Landing zone creation

Before workload moves, AWS Transform automates the generation of Landing Zone Accelerator network configurations, establishing secure, multi-account AWS environments with consistent governance, security controls, and organizational guardrails. This ensures your cloud foundation is production-ready from the start: network isolation, encryption, identity integration, and compliance controls are all in place before migration begins. Teams avoid the common pitfall of migrating workloads into environments that aren't properly architected, which causes costly rework downstream.

Network conversion & migration

Automated conversion transforms your on-premises network configurations into AWS equivalents (VPCs, subnets, security groups, transit gateways, and routing tables) up to 80x faster than manual methods. AWS Transform intelligently analyzes your network topology and generates ready-to-deploy infrastructure-as-code that follows AWS networking best practices. Output supports CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, and LZA formats, giving teams flexibility to deploy using their preferred toolchain.

Rehost VMs or replatform to containers

AWS Transform supports two migration execution paths based on each workload's needs. For rehosting, the service manages the full lifecycle: deploying replication agents, launching test instances for validation, tracking migration progress, and orchestrating cutover. For replatforming, flexible paths to Amazon ECS or EKS are available, analyzing each application's characteristics to recommend the optimal container strategy. Both paths include automated replication, testing, and cutover orchestration, reducing migration time and eliminating manual errors without disrupting your applications.
