The promise of generative AI has created both excitement and uncertainty across industries. While organizations recognize its transformative potential, many struggle with practical implementation and proving business value. The challenge isn’t just understanding the technology – it’s experiencing it in a meaningful way that demonstrates real-world application.

This mirrors a broader trend in enterprise technology adoption: according to Gartner research, decision-makers increasingly demand hands-on validation before committing to new solutions. The traditional approach of lengthy proofs of concept (PoCs) and complex procurement processes often creates friction that slows innovation and time to value.

Think about the modern car buying experience: When you want to purchase a car, you want to test drive it. Whether through the dealer or through modern online dealers with no-haggle return policies, you want to test the car. If you SEE a demo of a luxury car at the mall, it could be interesting, but it likely will not result in a purchase. However, if you get to DRIVE a luxury car, you’ll want to find a way to buy it. Think of your customers in the same way; don’t give them a free trial… Give them an experience, with a reason to buy.

Similarly, TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs addresses challenges in purchasing Business-to-Business (B2B) products. How exactly do Cloud Labs do that? Well, customers are flooded with options and information, and they need more than just a sales pitch; they need to see how a solution or product can help to solve their specific challenges within their own environment. That’s where a Proof of Concept (PoC) comes in.

Studies show that offering a product demo or Proof of Concept (PoC) can boost win rates by up to 20%. Additionally, businesses that utilize PoCs experience sales cycles that are 20% faster compared to those who don’t. 74% of buyers choose a technology vendor who first establishes their value and insight through data, making PoCs an essential tool for showcasing value. Finally, prospects are 87% more likely to engage with sales professionals who offer product demos or PoCs.

Traditionally, setting up a PoC involves lengthy procurement processes and detailed Statements of Work (SOWs), which can delay the project significantly. Free trials often come only with the sample licenses, but none of the connections, data, or integration to show value. How do we solve this? The answer cloud be TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs.

TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs

TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs are pre-architected and automated environments that are prepopulated with workloads, use cases, data, and scenarios. The environment can be used to deliver demos, immersive labs, and PoCs based on the scenario and needs. Getting a customer hands-on with the technology is the goal.

TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs give customers the opportunity to “try before you buy.” In today’s IT procurement landscape, simplifying the value validation and buying process is paramount to saving organizations time, resources, and money.

Let’s explore how TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs help AWS Partners address the challenges described above. As previously mentioned, PoCs can involve lengthy processes and cause delays in procurement. However, with Cloud Labs, Partners can quickly validate the value of AWS by demonstrating the solution in a pre-built AWS environment. For example, TD SYNNEX has built an Amazon Q Cloud Lab that helps partners showcase generative AI with AWS using Amazon Q Business capabilities pre-developed with recognizable use-cases. TD SYNNEX is currently building additional Cloud Labs for other AWS use cases, verticals, and entirely new solutions, such as migrating Microsoft workloads to AWS.

Amazon Q

Amazon Q is a generative AI-powered assistant designed by AWS to help businesses and developers work more efficiently with AWS services and technologies. Amazon Q can generate, test, and debug code, as well as engage in multi-step planning and reasoning to transform and implement new code from developer requests. It also helps employees access and understand various business data through logical summarization, trend analysis, and interactive dialogue. Want to analyze and summarize trends in your sales pipeline? Amazon Q can do that. Need to draft a press release and blog about a new AWS solution you are offering to your customers? Amazon Q can do that also! Additionally, Amazon Q respects existing governance identities, roles, and permissions, personalizing interactions accordingly. If a user doesn’t have permission to access certain data without Amazon Q, they can’t access it using Amazon Q either. It is built with security and privacy in mind to meet the most stringent enterprise needs.

Amazon Q is available as two products:

  • Amazon Q Business is engineered to answer questions, provide summaries, generate content, and securely complete tasks based on data and information in your enterprise systems. It empowers employees to be more creative, data-driven, efficient, prepared, and productive.
  • Amazon Q Developer assists developers and IT professionals with tasks such as coding, testing, upgrading applications, diagnosing errors, performing security scanning and fixes, and optimizing AWS resources.

And within 3 AWS Services:

  • Amazon Q in QuickSight is available in Amazon QuckSight, the AWS unified business intelligence (BI) service. It empowers users to analyze BI data using natural language queries to build visualizations and calculation.
  • Amazon Q in Connect enhances Amazon Connect, the AWS contact center service, helping agents provide better customer service with relevant company content.
  • Amazon Q in AWS Supply Chain enables supply chain users to deep dive into their supply chain by asking questions and getting answers based on their data, without having to wait on business intelligence engineers (BIEs).

The Amazon Q Cloud Lab

TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs have been developed specifically with partners, with the intent of helping them accelerate their opportunity pipeline. Likewise, the Amazon Q Cloud Lab is designed to help with Amazon generative AI understanding and adoption. It helps partners drive net-new generative AI projects with prospects and customers through an immersive experience.

The Amazon Q Cloud Lab implements Amazon Q Business and comes pre-populated and trained with data for national parks and insurance provider scenarios. Additionally, the Amazon Q Cloud Lab can showcase other use-cases, like data extraction and summarization of financial data, technical manuals, drug trials, and human resources payroll documents, to name a few. Leveraging this service allows partners to quickly enable end customers to interact with the model to get a better understanding about how to rapidly prototype and expand the data sets and use cases.

The Amazon Q Cloud Lab Experience

Partners can sign up to participate in a Cloud Lab for specific technology or use cases for Amazon Q. Most partners will be asked to attend a relatively short training to learn how to access the service, and how to interact with the Amazon Q Cloud Lab. After completing training, the partner is provided their credentials and a Cloud Lab URL, enabled to leverage the environment for their needs and get hands-on with their customers.

The Amazon Q Cloud Lab environment will consist of one Amazon Q Business application in a multi-tenant environment, along with multiple data sources representing unique use-cases using different types of supported connectors.

In summary, TD SYNNEX Cloud Labs solves critical challenges in solution development and hands-on experience by providing a streamlined, resource-rich service that accelerates development timelines and simplifies the POC process. This enables organizations to focus on innovation and execution, rather than getting bogged down by procedural delays and resource constraints.
