Amazon CloudFront / Route 53 – New Edge Location in Seoul, Korea

Voiced by Polly

We have just opened up an Amazon CloudFront / Amazon Route 53 edge location in Seoul, Korea!

This is our sixth location in Asia, and our fortieth world-wide (see the AWS Global Infrastructure map for more information). If your application already uses CloudFront or Route 53, your customers in the area will benefit from this location with no action on your part (with the small caveat that you can use the Price Classes feature to trade latency for cost if necessary).

This is a “Price Class 200” location, with pricing that matches our existing locations in Asia.

We’ve been working with customers in the area to make sure that they are ready to take advantage of this new location. Here’s a sampling:

Samsung Electronics uses CloudFront and a number of other AWS services as part its Smart Hub application. Samsung estimates that its cloud deployment strategy has saved the company up to $34 million (USD) in capital expenses and reduced operating expenses by 85 percent. They expect the new Amazon CloudFront edge location in Seoul to further enhance their customer experience in Korea.

Nexon Korea, the largest gaming company in Korea, develops and publishes mobile and online games. AWS helps them to launch games in very short time on a global scale,

Daum Communications is a leading Internet Portal in Korea. They deliver high quality online and mobile services, across all Internet-connected devices. The company’s Next Incubation Studio (NIS) recently built two new mobile applications using the AWS Cloud and is currently serving hundreds of thousands of unique users.
