AWS Marketplace
Expanding local currency payment options for AWS Marketplace sellers and customers
AWS Marketplace is a curated digital catalog provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that makes it easy for customers to find, test, buy, and deploy third-party software, data, and services with simplified procurement and controls. AWS Marketplace sellers can now create private offers with contract-only pricing products directly in four currencies – Euro (EUR), British pound (GBP), Japanese yen (JPY), and Australian dollar (AUD) – in addition to the US dollar (USD) for their customers. Sellers can also use local bank accounts to receive disbursements from AWS Marketplace sales. This simplifies sellers’ revenue recognition processes locally and accelerates their global expansion. Customers can transact private offers from AWS Marketplace in their preferred currencies without foreign exchange variability. This streamlines the buying process with greater budget predictability and provides a consistent invoicing experience in local currencies with the customer’s existing payment method.
In this post, we provide a step-by-step overview of how AWS Marketplace sellers and customers can transact private offers in non-USD currencies.
What AWS Partners selling in AWS Marketplace are saying about the new feature
“The world’s leading developers, who are joint customers of AWS and Trend Micro, now have the feature of currency, which is a game changer for them. Transacting in local currencies simplifies the process, reduces risk, and improves scale efficiency for our new and existing customers. As one of the most significant features AWS has launched, it underscores our commitment to delivering unparalleled business value and innovation in the cybersecurity industry.”
David Burke, Trend Micro Director of Cloud Alliance
“For Tackle customers, AWS support for these foreign currencies is huge. A major part of meeting customers where they are is understanding how they buy. Working with the AWS Marketplace product and engineering team to ensure Tackle Prospect users can identify potential customers who want to transact private offers in British pounds, euros, Japanese yen, and Australian dollars is a major step forward. We’re excited to be a launch partner for this feature on day one.”
John Jahnke, Tackle CEO
“Recently Mendix, a Siemens company, transacted the first AWS Marketplace deal in Euros. For us, the ability to transact in local currency was a game changer – there is no question it helped close the sale. We have made the entire Siemens Xcelerator portfolio on AWS Marketplace and now transacting in local currency streamlines the process and reduces risk. We are excited to hear about the expansion of local currency features inside AWS Marketplace.”
Bob Jones, Siemens Executive Vice President, Global Sales, Marketing and Services
For new AWS Marketplace sellers
By registering as a seller for AWS Marketplace, you can sell your products and services to other AWS Marketplace customers. Registering as a seller requires you to provide your banking information. You can now use your local bank accounts to complete the seller registration. Your local bank accounts can be domiciled in any of the eligible seller jurisdictions. This simplifies and aligns your disbursement options with your existing bank accounts.
For AWS Marketplace sellers
You can now use one or more multiple local bank accounts to receive disbursements. You can receive your disbursements in all five currencies centralized into one bank account or enable your local teams to receive disbursements into your local bank accounts. For example, if you want to use multiple bank accounts, you can use a new EU domiciled bank account for EUR disbursement and another Australia domiciled bank account for AUD disbursement. AWS Marketplace offers you the flexibility to recognize your revenue in your preferred way.
For AWS Marketplace customers
You can now negotiate or renew private offers with contract-only pricing in four non-USD currencies directly with your sellers. When you accept a private offer with contract-only pricing in the local currency, you will be invoiced directly in the same currency for the entire duration of the subscription without foreign exchange variability.

Solution walkthrough: Expanding local currency payment options for AWS Marketplace sellers and customers
To transact private offers in non-USD currencies, follow the steps in the next sections.
1. Add local bank accounts and disbursement methods as an AWS Marketplace seller
To add your local bank accounts, you need to provide the bank account details and billing address in the specified fields, as shown in the following screenshot.
- Sign into AWS Marketplace Management Portal and navigate to the Settings Under Payment information, you can add new bank accounts under Bank accounts.
- Select SWIFT account. In the Bank account holder name field, enter the bank account holder’s name.
- Enter the business identifier code (BIC), also known as SWIFT code, which is a code of 8 to 11 characters that identifies banks and financial institutions globally. You can find your BIC in multiple ways, including running a search in your browser or asking your bank directly.
- Enter your Account number.
The billing contact information is used to verify the billing address associated with your payment method. This contact is also used for any billing or payment-related communication.
If you want to use a bank account hosted in the UK, complete the Know Your Customer process to sell through the Luxembourg-based AWS entity, AWS EMEA SARL (AWS Europe). To learn more, refer to AWS Europe FAQs.
After adding your local bank accounts, associate a currency with your bank account for your disbursement method. You can only associate one currency with one bank account, and the same currency cannot be associated with another bank account. If you want to use one bank account to receive disbursements in all supported currencies, confirm with your bank that your account supports receiving multi-currency payments.
2. Create private offers in non-USD currencies as an AWS Marketplace seller
Once you’ve provided your banking information and added your disbursement methods, you can now create private offers in the supported local currencies. You can only create private offers in local currencies with contract-only pricing products. To learn more, visit Creating and managing private offers.
To create Channel Partner Private Offers (CPPOs) in the supported local currencies, the independent software vendor (ISV) must first issue a resale authorization in the preferred local currency. This permits the channel partner to create the CPPO in that local currency.
3. Renew or amend current private offer subscriptions in non-USD currencies
If your customer has active subscriptions under private offers with contract-only pricing, you can amend or renew the current private offer with a new currency. When the customer accepts the amended offer, they will be invoiced on the new invoicing schedule in the new currency.
Transacting private offers with contract-only pricing in non-USD currencies as an AWS Marketplace customer
Before you accept a private offer in the local currency, verify your payment method, preferred currency, and tax settings inside AWS Billing Console. When you accept a private offer in your preferred local currency, you will be invoiced in the contract currency listed in the private offer for the entire subscription duration.
