Building agentic AI for Amazon RDS for SQL Server with Strands and AgentCore
In this post, we walk through building an agent that investigates blocking and deadlocks on Amazon RDS for SQL Server — two issues that directly impact application performance, cause transaction failures, and lead to user-facing timeouts. Using the Strands Agents framework, we convert the T-SQL queries DBAs already use for these investigations into agent tools, combine them into a single agent, and deploy it to AgentCore Runtime.
Create a SQL Server Developer Edition instance on Amazon RDS for SQL Server
In this post, we show you how to create and deploy SQL Server Developer Edition on Amazon RDS.
Native SQL Server replication options on Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server
In this post, we explore SQL Server replication implementation on Amazon RDS Custom. You’ll learn about different replication types supported on RDS Custom SQL Server, including snapshot, transactional, and merge replication, along with their specific use cases. Finally, we provide a step-by-step guide to setting up replication, from configuring the distributor to creating publications and managing subscriptions.
Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server now supports Windows Authentication for DB instances
Amazon RDS Custom for SQL Server now allows you to directly join your DB instances to the domains of Microsoft Active Directory (AD). In this post, we show how to join RDS Custom DB instances to an AD for Windows Authentication. This applies to AD domains running in a self-managed environment either on premises or Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and AWS Managed Microsoft AD.
Best practices for Amazon RDS for SQL Server with Amazon EBS io2 Block Express volumes up to 64 TiB
Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports Amazon EBS io2 Block Express volumes. These volumes are designed to support all your critical database workloads that demand high performance, high throughput, and consistently low latency. io2 Block Express volumes support 99.999% durability, up to 64 TiB storage, up to 4,000 MiB/s throughput, and up to 256,000 Provisioned IOPS for your most demanding database needs, at the same price as EBS io1 volumes. In this post, we share best practices to use the io2 Block Express volumes with RDS for SQL Server DB instances.
Privileged Database User Activity Monitoring using Database Activity Streams(DAS) and Amazon OpenSearch Service
In this post, we demonstrate how to create a centralized monitoring solution using Database Activity Streams and Amazon OpenSearch Service to meet audit requirements. The solution enables the security team to gather audit data from several Kinesis data streams, enrich, process, and store it with retention to meet compliance requirements, and produce relevant alarms and dashboards.
Run Amazon RDS for SQL Server 2x faster with X2iedn Instances
Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for SQL Server now supports X2iedn powered by third-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors built on the AWS Nitro System and featuring the third-generation Intel Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) processors. SQL Server workloads are highly dependent on memory. As a result, memory-optimized Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances are most commonly used by customers.
Deploy an Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and MySQL Multi-AZ DB cluster using Terraform modules
Selecting the right cloud management tool is extremely important for many enterprises. In the post 5 Tips for Keeping Pace with AWS’s Innovation, we briefly discussed the high-level strategies to overcome the challenges of continuous improvement and drive innovations in your organization. In this post, we show how infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions built with […]
