New offers to enable work from home from Amazon WorkSpaces and Amazon WorkDocs

Earlier today, Jeff Barr shared several ways AWS is helping customers stand up and scale remote work and work from home initiatives, including new offers for Amazon WorkSpaces and Amazon WorkDocs. In this post, we would like to share a few more details.

We are announcing two new offers that enable you to use Amazon WorkSpaces and Amazon WorkDocs for up to 50 users at no charge. Both offers are for new customers that have not previously used these services and are available through June 30, 2020. The WorkSpaces offer is available beginning on April 1st and will include our Standard, Value, and Performance bundles. The WorkDocs offer is available immediately. Together, WorkSpaces and WorkDocs provide remote workers the ability to securely use the applications they need, while collaborating on documents with their colleagues around the world. If you want to get started with WorkSpaces immediately, you can use our ongoing Free Tier offer of the WorkSpaces Standard bundle.

WorkSpaces is a fully managed, Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution that provides users with either Windows or Linux desktops in just a few minutes, and can quickly scale to provide thousands of desktops to workers across the globe. Amazon WorkDocs is a fully managed, secure content creation, storage, and collaboration service. With Amazon WorkDocs, users can easily create, edit, and share the documents they need to get their job done. Both services can run almost anywhere and on almost any device, including on a home PC, laptop, and tablet. This combination of functionality is the reason many companies frequently use them in work from home scenarios.

Because of COVID-19, we have seen current AWS customers scaling up their use of WorkSpaces to support their sudden move to a largely remote workforce. In fact, we have seen a 10X increase in urgent customer scale up requests for their WorkSpaces deployments since the outbreak began. We hope with these new offers additional companies can take advantage of our services to help keep their workforce safe.

For more details on these offers visit the WorkSpaces or WorkDocs pricing pages. To begin using these services, visit either the Amazon WorkSpaces or Amazon WorkDocs site and choose “get started.”

We wish you, your workforce, and all of your families health and safety.
