During the week, there will be over 2,000 total sessions (with close to 100 storage sessions), and AWS Storage has big plans for you with interactive content, launches, and introducing you to me, Buckets, the storage mascot. With workshops, sessions, jams, and an in-person customer reception, there is sure to be something for everyone! Keep reading for more information on how you can get the most out of your re:Invent 2022 experience.

As in past years, this learning conference offers a variety of session formats:

  • Breakout sessions: 60-minute lecture-style presentations delivered by AWS experts, builders, and customers ranging from intermediate (200) to expert (400). We’re offering something for everyone.
  • Builders’ sessions: Smaller group sessions led by AWS experts during which you will build a project on your own laptop. These 60-minute sessions are highly interactive, so don’t be shy! Ask questions and get hands-on help.
  • Chalk talks: If your idea of a good time is asking all your most burning questions, we’ve got you. Our chalk talks are highly interactive. Each one opens with a brief lecture from an AWS expert followed by a longer Q&A addressing real-world architecture challenges. Every hour-long talk features AWS experts who will come prepared to answer your questions and even illustrate problems on a whiteboard as the talk goes on.
  • Workshops: There’s nothing quite like collaborative, hands-on learning, and we’re excited to bring that experience to you with workshops. Every two-hour-long workshop opens with a brief lecture given by an expert before we split into teams to solve a challenge. Participants must bring their laptops and be prepared to engage with one another.

For detailed descriptions and schedule, visit the AWS re:Invent Session Catalog. If you are attending re:Invent in person, we would love to connect with you at our AWS Village and Storage booth in the Expo at the Venetian. You can also reach out to your AWS account team. Don’t have a ticket yet? Join us in Las Vegas from November 28 – December 2, 2022 by registering for re:Invent 2022.

You can start planning your schedule by logging into your account, visiting the session catalog, and reserving or favoriting sessions of interest (I suggest using the storage filter to help narrow down the list, but I am biased). Below is a sample of some of the most interesting topics across the storage portfolio.

Pro tip: Search topics you are interested in and start favoriting/reserving sessions you think you might be interested in attending. Step Two: Make sure roughly 80% of your favorites are breakout sessions. Step Three: Get crazy! Once you have your core topics explored and your sessions favorited, explore other topics! You never know what you might discover.

Pro tip: The maximum number of 60-minute sessions you can attend across the week is 24! They should make up the bulk of your plan and have the most seats, too. Only 80% of room capacity is available for reserved seating, so don’t be discouraged, seats are available for walk-ups!

Pro tip: If you’re heading to another session across campus, account for at least 30 minutes to get there.

AWS Storage Leadership Session

STG221-L: AWS storage innovations at exabyte scale
Data is the change agent driving digital transformation. The variety of data and workloads and the need for resiliency in shared data environments make storage choices critical to every application. In this session, Mai-Lan Tomsen Bukovec, AWS Tech VP, and Andy Warfield, AWS Distinguished Engineer, share the latest AWS storage innovations and an inside look at how customers drive modern business on data lakes and with high-performance data. They also dive deep into technical and organizational strategies that protect with resilience, respond with agility, and fuel innovations with data-driven insights on AWS storage.

Pro tip: Leadership Sessions are a topic area’s State of the Union, where AWS leadership will share the vision and direction for storage at AWS (Hint: There will be launches!).

Getting started

Are you new to storage or taking your first steps? Hear from AWS experts and customers on best practices and strategies for choosing storage services aligned to your workloads. Get hands-on with services by building on AWS.

Pro tip: Use the filters to find tracks, topics (hint: storage), and services you can’t miss—or simply search for the session ID.

Can’t make it to Las Vegas? Join us virtually for free.

Not able to attend AWS re:Invent 2022 in person? Tune in to watch keynotes and leadership session livestreams for free by registering for the virtual-only pass! You’ll also view breakout sessions on demand. Virtual registration is included for all in-person attendees.
