New courses and updates from AWS Training and Certification in May and June 2023

Each month, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Training and Certification releases new training resources and certification updates to equip individuals and organizations with the skills to work with AWS services and solutions. In May and June 2023, we released 6 digital training products on AWS Skill Builder, including a sustainability course, a new AWS Builder Lab to configure VPC Traffic Monitoring, an updated AWS Certified Security – Specialty Official Practice Exam, and AWS Cloud Quest Tournaments. We also have a new guide to help you plan your AWS Certification path, and a new AWS Migration Essentials classroom course.

New AWS Skill Builder subscription features

AWS Skill Builder Individual and Team subscriptions provide on-demand AWS Cloud training for individuals, organizations, and AWS Partners, with access to engaging, interactive experiences – when, where, and how they prefer to learn. Building on Skill Builder’s online learning center of 600+ free digital courses and learning plans, Skill Builder subscriptions offer 150+ AWS Builder Labs, role- and industry-based gamified experiences via AWS Cloud Quest and AWS Industry Quest, open-ended AWS Jam challenges designed to teach AWS best practices, and enhanced certification exam preparation.

AWS Builder Labs

AWS Security Traffic Monitoring and Packet Analysis is a 60-minute AWS Builder Lab that teaches how to configure the components needed to mirror traffic in an AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). In this lab, you’ll configure VPC Traffic Mirroring and verify that the target instance is receiving a full copy of mirrored traffic, including data at the application layer.

Official Practice Exams

AWS Certified Security – Specialty Official Practice Exam is a three-hour, official full-length practice exam created by the experts at AWS and designed for learners preparing for the updated AWS Certified Security – Specialty exam (SCS-C02). Available in English, this practice exam will focus your preparation where you need it most and assess your readiness to gain confidence going into exam day.

AWS Cloud Quest Tournaments

AWS Cloud Quest Tournaments is a new feature in all AWS Cloud Quest roles, allowing individuals and organizations to create time-bound, immersive competitions. You’ll develop practical cloud skills while battling in a virtual match and earning points for task completion, which are tracked in real time via the AWS Cloud Quest Tournament leaderboard. AWS Cloud Quest Tournaments is an ideal tool for onboarding employees, engaging new-to-cloud learners, or facilitating a team-building activity.

Team subscription country expansion

AWS Skill Builder – free digital courses

Sustainability Transformation with AWS is a 45-minute, fundamental course for individuals who seek an overall understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Sustainability Transformation. You’ll learn how technology is vital for sustainability, components of the sustainability journey, the shared responsibility model for sustainability, and the principles for building sustainable solutions.

Getting started with Amazon OpenSearch Service is a 60-minute course for technical audiences to learn about the features, benefits, and technical concepts of Amazon OpenSearch Service, including how to run search queries, perform log analytics, and visualize your data using dashboards through guided demonstrations.

Getting Started with Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus is a 60-minute course that teaches you how this service reduces the effort required to build a secure, highly available, and scalable monitoring service for long-term retention of application performance and availability metrics.

AWS Training on Coursera and edX

Starting your career with AWS Cloud is a set of three fundamental-level courses available on Coursera and edX designed for individuals interested in learning about careers in cloud computing. This series provides an overview of cloud fundamentals, introduces cloud computing roles, and helps learners identify and assess the skills necessary to perform tasks in cloud computing roles. AWS Certification

The AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam is being updated. Registration for the updated exam opens August 22, 2023, and the exam is available to take starting September 19, 2023. This certification validates foundational understanding of AWS Cloud, services, and terminology. Review this blog to learn more.

Registration is now open for the updated AWS Certified Security – Specialty exam. The updated exam is available to take starting July 11, 2023. If you are preparing for the current exam, be sure to take it before July 10, 2023. Note: the updated exam (SCS-C02), available starting July 11, 2023, will NOT be available in German.

Use the new AWS Certification Pathways guide to plan your AWS Certification journey and attain your career goals. Select your first AWS Certification based on your background and career stage, or select additional AWS Certifications aligned to popular cloud job roles.

AWS Classroom Training

AWS Migration Essentials is a one-day, fundamental-level course led by an expert AWS instructor where you’ll learn to plan and perform lift and shift migrations to the AWS Cloud. The course covers methodologies for discovering, planning, performing, and tracking migrations by using various AWS tools and services, and how to use AWS Services to assess, mobilize, migrate, and modernize your data, databases, and applications. You’ll practice new skills in a real AWS environment with hands-on labs that cover database and application migration.

AWS Training for Partners

The classroom course AWS Partner: Migrating to AWS (Technical) is now called AWS Partner: Migration Essentials (Technical). This partner-exclusive course’s content remains the same; it’s just a name change to align with the title of the AWS Classroom training by the same name (above), to minimize confusion.
