Max J. Tsai has twenty-five plus years of experience in higher education with proven success in making technology accessible, understandable, and appealing to the campus users.
He currently serves as the digital transformation and innovation officer at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State). He provides organizational leadership development and architecting university digital transformation strategy to create sustainable and scalable solutions with current information technologies to meet the needs of campus stakeholders.
Max also oversees the Hub of Digital Transformation and Innovation (DXIHub), offering educational and professional development opportunities for students. Since its launch in 2019, the DXIHub has become the center of innovation and has developed a track record of inspiring students, faculty, alumni, and community members of all ages to implement their ideas.
He is passionate in promoting technology advancement and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education to support Digital Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and since 2002: the Fresno State Title V and FastForward (2002-2005) to reach out to students in rural areas with more web-based online courses; DISCOVERe (2014-) to support students by increasing access to digital tools; and the Technology Experience program (2019-) to support High Impact Practices.
Max has led Fresno State to receive the most Cal State innovation mini-grants and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud grants in leveraging cloud architecture, mobile-first student experience, smart campus in artificial intelligence (AI), robotic process automation, and Internet of Things technologies to support student success since 2017.
