Texas Computer Cooperative (TCC)

The Texas Computer Cooperative (TCC) is a statewide consortium that has been the leader in Texas for over 50 years in delivering products and services that support Texas Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in managing student and business information. Over 70 percent of Texas schools run ASCENDER. ASCENDER is TCC’s Student Information System (SIS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. Along with the SIS and ERP, ASCENDER’s powerful portals allow teachers, parents, and students to share and process data quickly and effectively.

The mission of the TCC is to provide trusted, cost-effective school administrative software and support services to Texas local education agencies while ensuring compliance with state, federal and local requirements.

Over four months, TCC migrated more than 400 clients to AWS. The TCC’s decision to migrate these critical systems to AWS brought several benefits. The migration allowed them to shut down two data centers and save an estimated 1 million dollars. Staff can now spend time improving ASCENDER, expanding, and improving services. With the help of the Migration Acceleration Program, the TCC is modernizing the databases to allow them to run more effectively on AWS Managed Services. TCC staff can now focus on innovation rather than mundane infrastructure configuration tasks. The move improved ASCENDER system performance and allowed staff to focus on serving the needs of the LEAs that rely on them.

The move simplified system support and strengthened the resiliency of ASCENDER, allowing educators to focus on their most important goal—educating students.
