Overview

Matrix Labs is shaping the future of the metaverse and advancing Web3 by making it more accessible to newcomers. To support first-time users in navigating the next generation of the internet, the company built an AI-powered platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) that handles tasks such as wallet setup and blockchain interactions. Since launching the platform, Matrix Labs has seen a 200 percent improvement in AI response times, 110 times faster model integration, and over 300,000 user registrations within weeks—achieving a 95 percent customer satisfaction rate.

Opportunity

Lowering the Barrier to Web3 for New Users

Based in Canada, Matrix Labs is at the forefront of metaverse innovation and the evolution of Web3. Its initiatives include Matrix World, a virtual environment where users can build and explore 3D applications on blockchain networks, and the Phanta Bear project—a collection of 10,000 algorithmically generated digital collectibles that also serve as membership cards. While Web3 opens new possibilities in digital ownership and decentralized applications, Matrix Labs recognized that complexity was a major barrier for newcomers. First-time users often face challenges with wallet setup, blockchain interactions, and navigating decentralized protocols. Existing AI platforms also lack the infrastructure to work seamlessly with blockchain networks, smart contracts, and Web3 APIs.

Tim Zhang, chief technology officer at Matrix Labs, explains, “We wanted to embed all these capabilities into our AI agents so that new users could cut through any complexity and begin to experience the value of a Web3 internet. While Web3 technologies promise to revolutionize digital ownership and decentralized applications, their complexity creates significant barriers to mainstream adoption.” To make Web3 more accessible, Matrix Labs set out to build a platform called WORLD3, powered by intelligent AI agents that could handle blockchain-specific tasks such as managing digital wallets, accessing market data, and interacting with decentralized applications—freeing users from technical friction and reducing the learning curve.

Solution

Accelerating an Agentic Web3 Platform on Amazon Bedrock

Matrix Labs turned to AWS to accelerate the development of its WORLD3 platform and ensure a secure, scalable foundation for innovation. The Matrix Labs team, already experienced in cloud-native and generative AI technologies, was able to move quickly and optimize both development costs and time to market. “In terms of ease of development, service reliability, and support, AWS gave us the confidence we were looking for in a cloud provider,” says Zhang.

To build the platform’s AI agent architecture, Matrix Labs used Amazon Bedrock, which provides access to a range of high-performing foundation models. These intelligent agents allow users to perform complex Web3 tasks using natural language commands, including token swaps, cryptocurrency transfers, and smart contract interactions. They also support advanced capabilities like tracking liquidity pool positions, monitoring yield farming rewards, and engaging with Web3 social platforms. In parallel, the team used Stable Diffusion models on Amazon Bedrock to create an NFT avatar generation system, helping users design personalized artwork and link it to their Web3 identities. This system integrates with major NFT marketplaces to simplify publishing and profile setup. “By adopting Amazon Bedrock and selecting the right LLM for each use case, we increased AI agent response speed by 200 percent and achieved 110 times faster model integration compared to traditional methods,” Zhang adds.

Supporting this ecosystem is a robust backend powered by multiple AWS services. Amazon DynamoDB handles wallet authentication and scales seamlessly during high-demand events like NFT launches. “Because Amazon DynamoDB can scale instantly during token airdrops and major events, our platform can support tens of thousands of authentications without performance issues,” says Jesse Rurka, vice president of technology for WORLD3. To ensure reliable performance across the platform, the team also adopted Amazon Aurora MySQL, Amazon OpenSearch Service, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). “With Amazon Aurora MySQL, we saw a 300 percent improvement in database performance,” says Zhang. “And thanks to Amazon EKS, setting up environments and connecting to our pipelines now takes just minutes—down from hours.”

Outcome

Driving Web3 Adoption with 330,000 Signups and 95% Satisfactio

Since launching the WORLD3 platform on AWS, Matrix Labs has rapidly accelerated Web3 adoption—far surpassing initial expectations. “I expected maybe a few thousand sign-ups in the first couple of weeks,” recalls Zhang. “But to our surprise, around 330,000 people registered—without any major marketing push.” During the same period, users deployed over 84,000 AI agents via the platform’s Agent Portal. These agents collectively executed more than 319,000 tasks and generated over 53,000 social media posts from natural-language prompts. “Our customer satisfaction score is already at 95 percent,” Zhang adds.

Newcomers can now deploy advanced Web3 AI agents—capable of managing multi-chain swaps, optimizing yields, and handling NFT portfolios—on WORLD3 in minutes. “WORLD3’s AWS infrastructure and Amazon Bedrock created the first viable bridge between mainstream users and Web3,” Zhang says. “It makes blockchain technology as accessible as traditional web applications.” For Matrix Labs, the platform represents a major leap forward in democratizing decentralized technologies. “AWS provided the infrastructure we needed to make Web3 as simple as sending an email,” adds Rurka. “Our users don’t need to understand gas fees or smart contracts—they just tell the AI agent what they want to do, and it handles everything from wallet setup to DeFi strategies.”
