Hawk: Fighting financial crime with AI precision

Hawk is helping financial institutions tackle one of the industry’s most complex challenges: fighting financial crime. Built on AWS and powered by AI, Hawk’s platform unifies anti-money laundering programs, fraud detection, and risk management into a single solution, enabling customers to block fraudulent activity in real time and gain a holistic view of operations.

The startup is using a number of AWS services including Amazon EKS to run and scale Kubernetes applications and Amazon S3 for data storage. It is also using Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka to more easily manage Apache Kafka infrastructure and operations, and Amazon OpenSearch Service to run and scale OpenSearch clusters.

Hawk currently operates its platform across four continents, five AWS Regions, and hundreds of computer nodes, delivering secure, compliant services to financial institutions. By leveraging managed services from AWS, the startup can scale infrastructure up and down in response to demand, while optimizing operational costs and supporting global expansion.

In addition to its current requirements of scalability, security, and global reach, AWS is also providing solutions to support Hawk’s continued growth. “AWS is offering not only what we need but also much potential,” says Benjamin Pannier, Chief Technology Officer, Hawk. The startup is using Amazon Bedrock, for example, to power its next phase of innovation, including deploying agentic AI capabilities. “AWS is way more than an infrastructure provider,” says Pannier. “We're leveraging the AWS partnership to enable our business.”
