Whether you are new to the cloud or an experienced user, you will learn something new at the AWS Summit. This free event is designed to educate you about theAWS products, services, and solutions in the Cloud and help you develop the skills to design, deploy, and operate infrastructure and applications. Take advantage of the many opportunities to learn about AWS services and solutions in multiple formats, including breakout sessions, workshops, hands-on-labs, demos, chalk talks, and team challenges. All sessions will be delivered by subject matter experts from AWS, our Partners, or our customers, who will share case studies and lessons learned.

Attend one-hour breakout sessions led by AWS subject-matter experts and/or top AWS customers. You’ll find introductory sessions, deep dive technical content, customer stories, and new launch announcements in these sessions.

Workshops engage attendees in a small-scale, hands-on session that provides a more tangible way to learn. These sessions are two hours long and are capped at about 80 attendees to maximize networking and learning opportunities.

Hands-on Labs help you evaluate and learn how to work with AWS solutions through step-by-step, self-paced instructions on an AWS Console in a live practice environment. Choose from 100+ lab topics that range in level from introductory to expert and take approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete. Registration is not required; walk-ups are welcome.

Chalk Talks are a short presentation designed to stimulate conversation and an open mic white boarding session following. The goal is to foster a technical discussion around real world architecture challenges. It’s a great opportunity to ask your questions of an AWS Expert.

You don’t need hours of practice to pick up a new skill. These short-format, real-time demo sessions are a great way to get how-to instructions straight from the experts.

Day One Space Tours is looking for sharp new talent. That’s why we’re calling on the boldest developers at the AWS Summit to help us build a galactic vacation-booking app in time for peak holiday season on Mars! The app must be designed in a serverless and microservices-driven architecture to ensure it is scalable, performant, and future-proofed in the coming years, as the space tourism industry booms. We provide AWS SAM templates based on R&D work from our previous development team to get you started, but you need to showcase your own creativity in designing, orchestrating, and deploying the app. All participants are provided AWS promotional credits for the hack. Be sure that you have the following: a laptop with a Wi-Fi connection, an AWS account, and AWS CLI pre-installed. Knowledge of Node.js is a bonus. The app will use the following AWS services, and any others available in the AWS free tier: Amazon API Gateway, AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Aurora.
