The AWS Storage Gateway service expanded the list of Amazon S3 storage classes supported by File Gateway to include S3 One Zone-Infrequent Access (S3 One Zone-IA). With this addition, you can now store and access your files as objects through the File Gateway using the S3 Standard, S3 Standard-IA and S3 One Zone-IA storage classes.
File Gateway offers on-premises applications an NFS mount for objects in Amazon S3, enabling hybrid cloud use cases such as migration, backup, disaster recovery, data lakes, Big Data analytics, and data distribution.
You can create a file share in S3 One Zone-IA through the management console or the service API. This feature is available today in all AWS Regions where Storage Gateway is offered around the world.
