A challenge many industrial and manufacturing corporations face when adopting IoT is the complexity of designing and developing for embedded devices. This is even more pronounced for corporations that have little knowledge of firmware development for embedded devices. Zerynth, an APN Select Technology Partner, provides a software development suite that enables Python programming on 32-bit microcontrollers and allows easy connectivity to AWS IoT service.

Amazon Athena is a Presto-distributed SQL engine used to query unstructured data using standard SQL, where you pay only for the amount of data you query. Chartio, an AWS Competency Partner, recently announced support for Athena. Their solution allows you to query and visualize data stored in an Amazon S3 data lake using standard SQL. You can also use their visual drag-and-drop SQL layer, which generates native SQL queries for you.

In 2017, many APN Partners invested in efforts to enhance their solutions and help customers migrate enterprise desktop applications to AWS. When the U.S. Air Force was looking to automate IT risk management and security compliance of NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments across the enterprise, the turned to Xacta 360—a solution from Telos Corporation, an AWS Advanced Technology Partner and member of the AWS Public Sector Partner Program. Xacta 360 is a risk management and compliance platform specifically engineered to integrate with many AWS services to speed and streamline the continuous compliance assessment of AWS-based workloads

At AWS re:Invent 2017, we introduced the AWS Serverless Application Repository that enables AWS customers to easily discover, deploy, and publish serverless apps for data processing, stream processing, Internet of Things (IoT) device data telemetry, and more. The Splunk AWS Serverless Applications are available from the AWS Lambda console and allow customers to ingest TBs of data into Splunk. Check out the Splunk serverless apps that are open-sourced to dive deeper, including the underlying AWS SAM template.

We see many AWS Partners doing great things and innovating on the AWS Cloud. Veeam is bringing backup technology to the cloud; IOpipe helps you get better insight into your AWS Lambda functions; and Narrative Science uses machine learning to generate auto reports from your big data.
