Many organizations have developed a cloud-migration strategy and are looking at how to accelerate cloud adoption. As organizations increasingly embrace IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS consumption models, many select Amazon Web Services (AWS) as their cloud provider. While pre-application migration planning and application readiness is a key focus area, many organizations realized that network readiness is critical for a successful cloud adoption journey. On Monday during the Public Sector Partner Advisory Council at AWS re:Invent 2018, we acknowledged the achievement of 17 public sector partners from around the world who have completed the AWS Public Sector Partner Transformation Program (PTP).

We announced the Authority to Operate (ATO) on AWS program, which provides resources to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) who aspire to achieve a compliance authorization, such as FedRAMP, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Payment Card Industry (PCI), Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), and many other compliance programs.

AWS Services are used throughout the United States by state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies. Customers can create customized cloud-based environments for CJI workloads with training and helpful resources provided by AWS to meet CJIS requirements. Backed by the secure and tested AWS network, customers can feel comfortable putting sensitive workloads in AWS.

As federal fiscal year 2018 comes to an end and with budgets to spend and IT plans in place for 2019, the questions of “how and where do we start migrating mission-critical applications to the cloud?” still loom on many federal IT executives.
