The 2021 IMAGINE Education conference brought together education leaders and executives from across the country and around the world in an all-day event to discuss the future of education. It was my honor to deliver the keynote address to highlight some of the ways that the education community in the public sector are transforming the very essence of learning with the cloud. I was joined by Kathryn Finney, the chief executive officer (CEO) and founder of Genius Guild and General Partner of the Greenhouse Fund, who expressed how educators are driving innovation for their students and making the impossible, possible.

For the first-ever Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Sector Summit in Mexico City, more than 1,400 people from government, education, and nonprofits registered for the event to discuss digital transformation in Latin America through investment in innovation, infrastructure, and talent. With content in both Spanish and English, AWS leaders and customers shared their news and success stories with the group. What’d you miss?

On September 24 & 25, Amazon Web Services (AWS) welcomed 1,865 attendees for the AWS Public Sector Summit in Singapore, newly expanded to include customers from Singapore as well as across the Asia Pacific Region. Technologists and executives gathered to learn how the cloud is driving innovation across government, education, and nonprofits worldwide, get inspired, and begin to build. On September 15, Amazon Web Services (AWS) held its third annual AWS Summit in Bahrain – the first summit since the new Middle East AWS region launched in August. More than 1600 executives and technologists attended to connect, collaborate, and learn about AWS in more than 20 breakout sessions on topics ranging from machine learning, to databases, to workforce development. In the keynote address, Teresa Carlson, VP Worldwide Public Sector, AWS, shared regional announcements and welcomed local customers to share their journey on AWS. At the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Sector Summit in New Delhi, India more than 1,000 technologists gathered to learn about digital transformation through cloud technologies, get inspired, dive deep, and begin to build. AWS customers highlighted the groundbreaking work done in India through technology to improve the lives of the more than one billion Indian citizens. At the AWS Public Sector Summit in Canberra, Australia, more than 1,300 technologists convened to learn about digital transformation through cloud technologies, and were able to get inspired, dive deep, and begin to build. Keynote speakers highlighted the impact AWS can have on the individual, society, security, government, and the economy in the Australia and New Zealand region.

“The earth is breathing, the earth is speaking, but are we listening?” said Dr. Dava Newman, Apollo Program Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). From the warming of Earth over the decades to the resulting melting of the Greenland ice shelf (which can correspond to a 6-meter rise in sea levels), the Earth’s vital signs are real. “But we need to understand the Earth to save it,” said Lori Garver, CEO of Earthrise Alliance. What can we all do to address these issues?
