April 9, 2024 | RAI Amsterdam

Thank you for your interest in AWS Summit Amsterdam. The event has reached maximum capacity and is no longer accepting entries.

Community Lounge

The AWS Community is a space "from the community, to the community", where the attendees have the chance to learn directly from its members about the programs available (AWS Hero, AWS User Groups, AWS Community Builders and AWS Cloud Clubs) and how you and your company can leverage being part of them.

The day will be led by our community MC’s Enri Peters and Piet Van Dongen. We will have 5 DevTalks sessions delivered by community members on topics like StepFunctions, AWS Identity and access, Retrieval-Augmented Generation and Amazon Personalize. The day will wrap up with a Women in Tech Panel discussion themed “Inspire inclusion”, moderated by AWS Benelux Country Manager with panelists from our customers, community and AWS EMEA Managing Director.

Join us for a day of talks and demos, network and prizes while you learn how to continue your AWS journey together with the AWS Community in Benelux (Belgium, The Netherlands, The Hague and Luxembourg).

The AWS User Group Netherlands is excited to announce their AWS Community Day taking place this fall, to learn more about how you can participate visit the community lounge and hear from the community leaders.

Agenda

  • Time: 11:30- 12:00

Embarking on an AWS journey can be both thrilling and overwhelming for teams. There are a lot of concepts to grasp when starting out with AWS. In this talk I’ll share some of the (open source) tools and libraries I’ve used over the last years while trying get enterprise teams up to speed and flatten the team’s learning curve. These tools help teams benefit from battle-tested solutions, invaluable insights, and time-saving best practices. Tools involved will help with applying best practices, hardening security and compliance, and reduce boilerplate code. After this talks you should have some additional tools on your belt that can help new and existing teams improve their efficiency.

  • Time: 12:30- 13:00

Networking infrastructure is crucial for business operations, yet managing it on AWS poses challenges due to complex concepts and inadequate tools. Custom coding increases complexity and reduces maintainability. AWS Step Functions offer a solution, enabling orchestration and event-driven deployment. Integration with services like EventBridge streamlines processes. Attendees will learn practical strategies for leveraging Step Functions to streamline networking infrastructure, enhancing agility and simplicity in AWS.

  • Time: 13:30-14:00

The AWS IAM Identity Center allows companies to improve their security posture by avoiding the use of static credentials provided by IAM users. Instead, it enables the use of temporary credentials, which also allows for the same identity to be used across multiple accounts (SSO). However, there is still a challenge with the access level, which is permanent and requires security teams to restrict what developers can do. This slows down the development process and leads to bad practices such as role chaining, which makes it difficult to understand who has access and who does not. Imagine if we could make not only the credentials temporary but also the level of access. In this talk, we will explore how to implement just-in-time access for AWS IAM Identity Center. This approach simplifies the access model drastically, while still improving the security posture.

  • Time: 14:30-15:00

Retrieval-Augmented Generation is a popular approach of bringing LLMs into the enterprise context. There are many ways the solution can be built using a combination of AWS services. This session presents different architectures and tradeoffs when building RAG solutions, based on experience with customer use cases. We will discuss as a community what has worked well and what not for different use cases.

  • Time: 15:30- 16:00

From navigating university choices to building a solution with Amazon Personalize, join me at the AWS Summit for an inspiring session on transforming the university selection process. I envisioned a personalized recommendation system tailored to students' profiles, interests, and aspirations. In this talk, I'll introduce you to Amazon Personalize, share my journey of understanding and applying this service to a real-world problem, and demo the software that could revolutionize educational guidance. This session is about an opportunity for you to envision applying similar innovations to your challenges. Come and be inspired to create solutions that matter.

  • Time: 16:30- 17:30

Panelists: Danielle Gorlick (Benelux Country Manager, AWS) - Panel Moderator, Jennifer Crites (CIO, Post NL), Corine Adams (CIO, Versuni), Tobiloba Arotimi (Software Engineer at DataOps House | SheSharp Community) & Tanuja Randery (VP & Managing Director EMEA, AWS)

Join us for the “Inspire Inclusion - Women in Tech” Panel, aligned with the International Women’s Day theme. This event promises an enlightening dialogue with female members and leaders from the tech community, dedicated to fostering diversity and empowerment within the sector. Our panelists will dive into discussions on creating more inclusive environments, overcoming barriers to women’s success in tech, and technical strategies for encouraging the next generation of women in the cloud.

This panel is more than a conversation; it's a call to action for change, collaboration, and community building.

Whether you're an industry veteran or a newcomer to the tech world, this event is an invaluable opportunity to be part of the movement towards greater inclusivity and equality in tech.
