AWS Summit returns to Bombay Exhibition Center (NESCO) Mumbai in 2020. Whether you are new to the cloud or an experienced user, you will learn something new at this immersive two-day event. This free event features global keynote announcements, networking, multiple breakout sessions on the latest cloud technology solutions, access to AWS experts, hands-on learning, and an even bigger solution expo.

AWS Summit Mumbai 2019 Opening Keynote

The AWS Summit Mumbai brings together the cloud computing community to connect, collaborate and learn about AWS. Explore our action-packed, two-day event agenda, where you can dive deep into your core topic or join a starter session to learn something new.

AWS Summit Day 1 (Wednesday, 8 April ) focuses on the six key themes - Machine Learning, Analytics, Migration, Dev Ops, Innovation, and Build on AWS. The sessions on day 1 provide an overview of the big picture, approaches around architectures, services selection, compliance, domain influenced architectures, and demos designed to meet the needs of attendees from basic to intermediate knowledge (level 100 – 200). The emphasis will be on what – and how – it needs to be done to be able to run your applications/workloads on AWS.

AWS Summit Day 2 (Thursday, 9 April) will be a full day dedicated to deep dive conversations focused on the six key themes - Machine Learning, Analytics, Migration, Serverless & Containers, Security & Governance and Build on AWS. The sessions on day 2 provide an overview of  architectures, services, approaches, and how to build solutions as professionals (developer, data scientists, application architects, IT Pros). This day will combine deep-dive sessions curated by subject matter experts (level 300–400).

All topics will be delivered by subject matter experts from AWS, Partners or Customers who can share real-world experiences and lessons.

Keynote Speakers

Swami

Swami Sivasubramanian, Vice President, Amazon Machine Learning, AWS

Swami Sivasubramanian is VP at AWS in charge of all Amazon AI and Machine learning initiatives. His team’s mission is “To put machine learning capabilities in the hands on every developer and data scientist.” For more details on Amazon AI: https://aws.amazon.com/amazon-ai/ and https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/ai/

Previously, Swami used to manage AWS’s NoSQL and big data services. He managed the engineering, product management and operations for core AWS database services that are the foundational building blocks for AWS DynamoDB, Amazon ElastiCache (in-memory engines), Amazon QuickSight, SimpleDB and a few other big data services in the works. Swami has been awarded more than 250 patents, authored around 40 referred scientific papers and journals, and participate in several academic circles and conferences.

In addition to these, he also built more than 30 AWS Cloud Services like Amazon CloudFront, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3, Amazon's Paxos based lock service, original Amazon Dynamo etc. He was also one of the main authors for Amazon Dynamo paper (http://bit.ly/1mDs0Yh) along with Werner Vogels, which received the ACM Hall of Fame award. Amazon Dynamo now is the foundation for many other NoSQL systems like Riak, Cassandra and Voldemort.

Olivier Klein

Olivier Klein, Emerging Technologies, Amazon Web Services

Olivier’s expertise in IT architectures, Internet technologies, and software engineering paved the two decades for him helping businesses make the most of most out of technologies such as cloud computing to solve business struggles and adapt to a data-driven business model. Olivier has been working for AWS across Asia-Pacific and Europe to help customers implement architectural best practices and be successful in their digital transformation journey. In addition he advises how emerging technologies in the Artificial Intelligence (AI), ML, robotics and IoT space can help create new products, make existing processes more efficient and leverage new engagement channels for end-consumers. Prior to his AWS time, Olivier ran the digital product strategy for an American multinational publishing and education company across Asia and led engineering and R&D efforts to build a virtualised web service platform for a Luxembourgish Internet Service Provider pre-cloud era. Olivier has a bachelor of science degree in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences Trier, and a masters degree from the National University of Singapore majoring in Software Engineering.

Arun Gupta

Arun Gupta, Principal Technologist, Amazon Web Services

Arun Gupta is a Principal Technologist at Amazon Web Services. He is responsible for the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) strategy within AWS, and participates at CNCF Board and technical meetings actively. He works with different teams at Amazon to help define their open source strategy. He has built and led developer communities for several years. He has extensive speaking experience in 45+ countries on myriad topics. Gupta has also founded the Devoxx4Kids chapter in the US and continues to promote technology education among children. A prolific writer, author of several books, an avid runner, a globe trotter, a Docker Captain, a Java Champion, a JUG leader, he is easily accessible at @arungupta on twitter.

Craig Stires

Craig Stires, Head of Data & Analytics, Amazon Web Services

Craig Stires is Head of Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data for Amazon Web Services, Asia Pacific. His teams help customers build innovation engines on the Cloud and transform their businesses using modern data architectures. He has 20 years in the analytics industry- starting as a software engineer to becoming the head of analytics consulting for SAS in Asia. He then founded a startup in Thailand creating predictive intelligence systems. Later, he launched the APAC Big Data advisory practice for IDC. Today, Craig works with AWS's most exciting customers building AI-driven engagement platforms and intelligent automation systems.

Olivier Klein

Olivier Klein, Head of Emerging Technologies, AWS

Olivier is a hands-on technologist with more than 10 years of experience in the industry and has been working for AWS across APAC and Europe to help customers build resilient, scalable, secure and cost-effective applications and create innovative and data driven business models.

He advises how emerging technologies in the Artificial Intelligence (AI), ML and IoT space can help create new products, make existing processes more efficient, provide overall business insights and leverage new engagement channels for end-consumers. He also actively helps customers build platforms that align IT infrastructure and service spending with revenue models, effectively reducing waste and disrupting how product development had been executed over the past decades.

Dhruv Singhal

Dhruv Singhal, Head of Technology, AISPL

Dhruv has been in the IT Industry for over 30 years. He has worked extensively on varied projects in India, UK & USA across multiple industries including Telecommunications, BFSI, Government and Transportation. Some of the projects handled by him include office automation, benefit administration, web trading, self service portals, freight operations information systems and many more. AT&T, Aircel, Uninor, BSNL, BSE, ICICI, HDFC, NSE, SBI Life Insurance and Indian Railways are some of the organisations he has catered to.

Dhruv is an expert on technology and has written extensively on various technology concepts including self-service provisioning, Enterprise Application Integration and Service Oriented Architecture. Dhruv is currently responsible for Solutions Architecture at Amazon Internet Services, India.

Dhruv is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and also holds an MBA degree from IIM Calcutta.

Kalpana

Kalpana brings a wealth of knowledge and over 34 years of experience in the financial services sector in India, presently she’s working as a COO with DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Limited. In her present role she’s managing Operations, Information Technology, Renewal, Legal, Secretarial, Internal Audit & Risk functions. Prior to this Kalpana was the CEO for Swiss Reinsurance Co. limited wherein she played an instrumental role in launching the India Operations during June 2015. Prior to Swiss Reinsurance Co, Kalpana was the Chief – Customer Service and Operations for ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co Ltd. She joined as a founder member at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co Ltd in the year 2000 and has been part of various functions as Chief- Underwriting, Claims and Group Operations , Chief – Internal Audit, Legal and Risk Control and lastly as Chief – Customer Service and Operations. In her earlier years of her career, Kalpana was working with Life Insurance Corporation of India from May 1984 till July 2000 in various capacities and was performing the role of an Administrative Officer before she moved on to ICICI Prudential Life Insurance. During her term with LIC, she was handling the Central Claims Review Committee, Branch Operations, New Business, Sales and Policy Servicing.

Kalpana holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce followed by Bachelor of Law from University of Mumbai. She is ACMA, Fellow of Insurance Institute of India (FIII) and Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) UK. She is also a regular speaker at major workshops and conferences in India and abroad conducted by AIMA and global reinsurance companies’ .She is also a Guest faculty at National Insurance Academy since 2003. Along with this, she is the Honorary faculty for MBA course with CII, UK’s India program.

Andrew Thornton

Andrew oversees sales activities and customer relationships in the Asia-Pacific region and Japan. He brings more than 25 years of leadership experience to his role, with much of his career devoted to broadcast, new media and streaming technologies.

For the past 15 years, Andrew has led sales organizations serving the Asia-Pacific region; most recently, he served as vice president of Grass Valley Asia Pacific, where he oversaw sales and customer support and guided the integration of several corporate brands within the region. Previously, Andrew led the Asia-Pacific region for Harmonic following its acquisition of Omneon, where he served in the same capacity. Prior to that, he directed Asia-Pacific operations for Avid Technology, and previously, he was general manager of the Middle East region for Sony Broadcast and Professional. Before joining Sony, Andrew started his career in the IT industry.

Andrew earned his Bachelor of Technology in Managerial Sciences from Bradford University and his Master of Business Administration from Sheffield University. He is based in the AWS Elemental Hong Kong office.
