Q: What is an AWS DeepRacer League Summit Online race?

Attendees of AWS Summit Online events may participate in the event’s AWS DeepRacer Summit Online race, subject to certain terms and conditions. Summit Online races will be conducted in the AWS DeepRacer console on a virtual reproduction of the official AWS DeepRacer League Summit track shape – the 2019 AWS DeepRacer Championship Cup track. Eligible AWS Summit Online attendees may participate in an AWS DeepRacer League Summit Online race throughout the month-long racing period by submitting a model here.

Q: What kind of race format is the Summit Online race?

Participants of the AWS DeepRacer League Summit Online Race may participate in both Time Trial and Head-to-Head racing formats. There is no limit to how many times a participant may enter, and participants may compete in both racing formats in each race. There is no Object Avoidance racing format in the Summit Online race.

Q: Is the Summit Online race different than Virtual Circuit races?

Summit Online races will be governed by the rules and conditions of “Virtual Circuit” races as posted in the official rules, with the following exceptions:

  1. Summit Online head-to-head racing format will follow Virtual Circuit head-to-head qualification race rules, with participants submitting models to navigate the track while avoiding a specified number of moving bot cars. The winners of the race will be determined by the fastest continuous time submitted to the leaderboard at the close of the race. There is no elimination bracket or Head-to-Head tournament at the end of the month for Summit Online races. The winners of the Head-to-Head and Time Trial Summit Online Races are determined by the leaderboard times at the end of the applicable period for the Summit Online Event Race, as outlined at www.awsdeepracerleague.com.
  2. A varying number of first prizes and second prizes will be awarded per each Summit Race. Prizing per Summit Online race will be allocated by the number of physical Summits replaced by a Summit Online. For example, the May Summit Online races will have 13 first prizes in Time Trial; 13 first prizes in Head-to-Head; 65 second prizes in Time Trial; and 65 second prizes in Head-to-Head.
