What is Pioneer?

Pioneer is a new AWS program that provides credits to help businesses reduce the cost of getting started. Whether you're exploring AI, migrating workloads, or modernizing infrastructure, Pioneer helps you take the first step.

How do I know if I'm eligible

Pioneer is for businesses that are new to AWS or have not yet deployed a meaningful workload. You may be a good fit if you are exploring AWS for the first time, have an account but no production workload, or are evaluating AWS for AI, modernization, or other needs.

    Credits apply to 200+ eligible AWS services. Most customers use them to build and test AI applications (Bedrock, SageMaker, Amazon Q), create and validate new applications that could become the foundation for a future migration, modernize infrastructure, or build analytics and BI tools.

    Not credit-eligible: AWS Marketplace purchases, Support plans, and RI/SP upfront fees. See AWS Promotional Credit Terms and Conditions for details.

    Yes, an AWS Account ID is required. If you do not have one, you can create an account directly from the application page. The form will guide you through the process.

    For existing AWS accounts, expect credits within 3 to 5 business days of approval.

    For newly created AWS accounts, there is an additional account verification process that can take up to 30 days to complete. This is a one-time step required to fully activate your account for credit provisioning. We are actively working to shorten this timeline.

    Once credits appear in your account, you can start building immediately.

    Pioneer credits are applied automatically to eligible charges on your account. No action is required on your end. Your credit balance on the Credits page in the Billing console updates at the end of each monthly billing cycle. To check your estimated credit balance at any time during the month, go to the Bills page in the Billing console and choose the Savings tab. If you have questions about your credit status, contact AWS Support.

    Yes. Pioneer credits expire 90 days after they are provisioned.

    There is no commitment. Your workload continues under standard AWS pay-as-you-go pricing with no disruption and no obligation. AWS pricing and optimization tools are available anytime.

    Free Tier lets developers explore specific services within fixed usage limits. Pioneer provides funded capacity for a business to deploy a real workload (AI, modernization, analytics) without a procurement cycle. Free Tier is a product feature. Pioneer is a business investment in your first step on AWS.

    Pioneers receive $1,000 in AWS credits. Credits are loaded directly into your AWS account once your application is approved. Once credits appear, you can start building immediately.
