Meet your AWS Startup Generative AI Support Team

How was this content?

When you’re ready to grow your generative AI startup on AWS, you’ll meet a support team eager to provide you with a deep set of resources to help you succeed. We help startups at each stage of their journey, and as you progress through funding rounds, the AWS Startup generative AI support team can step in as a dedicated long-term partner.

Unlike more generalist teams, the generative AI support team is made up of experts who focus on generative AI startups, all day, every day. They know the specific challenges you face, and they’re always working to power the unprecedented speed of innovation in the space. With technical expertise and business mentorship, the generative AI support team can help you scale your generative AI strategy and carve out your own place in the rapidly evolving industry.

Let’s meet the different people you’ll partner with on the team. You can get to learn their roles and how best to leverage them to achieve your goals.

Account Managers

The entire support team takes a three-pronged approach to partnering with generative AI startups: co-build, co-market, and co-sell.

  • During the co-build phase, the team will work backwards with you to determine your short- and long-term goals, guiding you through steps like making smart early hires, developing use cases or early customers, finding product-market fit, and figuring out the right architecture for scalability.
  • When we co-market, we work with you on the best go-to-market strategies, including offering hands-on support for everything from pitch decks to customer profiling.
  • As we co-sell, our team works backwards to determine your ultimate selling goals, connect you to buyers or partners within the AWS Partner Network, make introductions to other Amazon business units that could be potential customers, or help you get listed on AWS Marketplace as an AWS Partner.

Account managers are the people who execute this three-pronged strategy. They act as the point person for the entire team, continually directing you to the right support. They’ll connect you to the right resource  to ensure you have the right solutions and keep lines of communication open, so you can always get answers to questions both big and small. Ultimately, they’re committed to getting you what you need, when you need it.

"We've helped customers run everything from distributed training at scale to helping them build secure generative AI applications by leveraging high-performing leading foundation models. We will meet generative AI startups wherever they are in their build journey.”
Brenna, Sr Account Manager, Generative AI Startups

Solutions Architects

When you partner with a Solutions Architect on the Generative AI Support Team, they’ll work both proactively and reactively to meet your technical and strategic needs as you grow.

They’ll be proactive in your build, helping you consider it from all angles, architect with security front of mind, and find the best pathway to scalability. At the same time, they’ll be reacting to any day-to-day challenges you face, like guiding you through understanding an AWS feature or developing a one-on-one workshop that upskills your employees.

“We help guide the customers to ensure that they’re successful on AWS, especially in a technical capacity. We eliminate roadblocks and give them a joint engineering perspective by introducing them to our service teams and including them in our product feature requests.”
– Nisha, Sr AI/ML Solutions Architect

Business Development

On the business side of your startup’s journey, a business development specialist will provide high-touch support as you grow.

Like all of our team’s solutions for startups who’ve raised funding rounds, this support is customized and can look different for each company. It may be leveling up a pitch deck, providing fundraising guidance, or advising on go-to-market strategies.

Many people on the business development team are past founders or come from the startup space. They’re well-versed in navigating the specific challenges you face, so they can help you design unique campaigns and workflows that fit into the evolving generative AI landscape while building a strategic partnership with AWS.

“A lot of the customers that work with us want broader go-to-market support. We help them get started with what works for them with AWS and feed up towards the full AWS marketplace listing. We’re a bit of an outsourced CPO or CTO in a way that’s customized and works with them.”
– Timur, Global Head of AI/ML Startup Business Development

Generative AI Specialists

While every person on the team specializes in generative AI support, you’ll also work with a dedicated team member who helps you work backwards to uncover the solutions that unlock your potential within the current generative AI landscape.

These specialists work from both a business and technical perspective, supporting startups in deciding whether they want to move from building with a pre-built model to training their own, what that would mean for them economically and commercially, and what type of investment and ROI they would get out of that for their business as they scale.

Another exciting element of teaming up with a generative AI specialist is the opportunity to enhance AWS offerings. As the specialist learns more about the specific challenges you’re facing in the generative AI space, they’re able to communicate with the AWS team about the features and services that could make products better suited to your needs.

For instance, we listened to feedback from startups who were having performance and resiliency concerns during distributed training. So, we went back to the drawing board and created Amazon SageMaker HyperPod, a service specifically built for improved resilience and performance as customers train large-scale foundation models.

Ultimately, generative AI specialists understand that you are the best people to inform them about the choices and features you need. When you engage with the specialist, you’re not only finding the best path forward for your generative AI startup, you’re giving us the depth of understanding we need to make the AWS tools and services you’re using more agile and robust.

“We want to be the provider that gives the most choice. We’re coming up with solutions and services based on customer demand that prioritize that choice. It’s our job as your generative AI support team to help you make the best decision among those choices.”
– Rohit, Sr Specialist, Generative AI

It’s exciting to build a business in a field with an unprecedented speed of innovation. Our team is eager to join yours as a long-term generative AI partner that helps your startup flourish. When you team up with us, you’ll receive our individualized support, our commitment to fostering a secure and responsible generative AI ecosystem, and the tailor-made tools that accelerate your path to success.
