AWS Training FAQ

We’re here to help. Get started below with answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

AWS Training and Certification helps you build and validate your cloud skills so you can get more out of the cloud. We offer both digital and classroom training—delivered virtually and in person—so you can choose to learn online at your own pace or learn best practices from an instructor.

  • Where are AWS Training classes available?

Training is available around the globe across multiple time zones, with classes delivered by either AWS or our AWS Partner Network Training Partners. You can search for AWS Training classes at our Learning Library. Select any course to choose a location, date, whom a class is delivered by, and language. You can browse selections via three options: View All, Digital Training, and Classroom Training (for live in-person and live virtual classes).

  • Is there a cost associated with AWS Training?

Digital training is free. On occasion, digital training may reference a hands-on lab activity offered outside of aws.training that may have a cost associated with it.

Classroom training, delivered either virtually or in person, requires a registration fee.

  • What is private (on-site or virtual) training?

Private training can help your team meet your business objectives sooner. We can work with you to develop a training strategy, and then bring a dedicated instructor directly to you—in person or virtually—to train your staff. Contact us for more information.

  • Where do I find more information on the type of education that AWS offers?

AWS has a diverse portfolio of programs to help you succeed with AWS. Here are a few programs that might interest you:

  • How do I create an aws.training account?

    1. Go to https://www.aws.training
    2. Select Sign In on the top right corner
    3. Create a new account or sign in using an existing Amazon account. This includes credentials for your Amazon retail account or any account that uses the Login and Pay with Amazon widget (such as Woot or Zappos)
    4. Complete your account profile if you are signing in for the first time

  • Does creating an account at aws.training create an AWS account for me?

No. Creating an aws.training account does not create an AWS account. The two accounts are not linked.

  • I'm an APN Partner. How do I access AWS Partner Training?

As an APN Partner, you should sign in to aws.training using your APN Portal credentials. Select Sign in via APN Portal to sign in with your credentials.

  • I'm an Amazon employee. How do I access aws.training?

If you are an Amazon employee, you can sign into aws.training here while logged on to the Amazon network.

  • What are the classroom requirements for private on-site training?

If you are hosting private on-site training, it is critical that you provide a classroom environment with the following resources:

    • Large whiteboard with markers
    • LCD projector and screen
    • Power cables for each attendee
    • Internet access for instructor (preferably wireless)

If you do not provide these resources, AWS may be unable to provide all or a portion of the training you have arranged.

  • What are the technical requirements for accessing AWS Training either in-person or virtually?

Each attendee will require a laptop or PC with wired/wireless internet access. For private on-site training and virtual training, the instructor and all attendees will need outbound access on the following TCP ports:

    • TCP port (outbound) 3389 - RDP
    • TCP port (outbound) 22 - SSH
    • TCP ports (outbound) 80,443 – web
    • TCP port (outbound) 4172 – Amazon Workspaces (may be required for the instructor)

Additionally, Windows users (as opposed to Mac or Linux) will need a SSH client such as “Putty.”

If the above ports are not opened, AWS lab exercises that are a part of the training will not be accessible.

  • Which Classroom Training courses does AWS deliver virtually?

All Classroom Training courses are currently delivered virtually.

  • What are the technical requirements for accessing AWS Training either in-person or virtually?

AWS utilizes GoToTraining by LogMeIn for delivering virtual training classes. The technical requirements and downloads for GoToTraining can be found on LogMeIn’s support page for training attendees.

  • How do I access a virtual training class that I registered for?

Check your email for a registration confirmation email. This email will have instructions for how to register for access to course materials and the lab environment. Please complete the steps in that email before class.

Instructions for the day of the class:
