AWS Week in Review – June 16, 2014 Let’s take a quick look at what happened in AWS-land last week: Monday, June 16 Julien Vaéry published a very nice AWS Deployment Guide for VPC and Elastic Beanstalk. A helpful blog post by Brian Lowry showed you how to Setup multiple SSL certificates on an Amazon EC2 instance using a VPC. The AWS Application Management Blog talked about Locally Packaging Gem Dependencies for Ruby Applications in Elastic Beanstalk. Tuesday, June 17 We launched new SSD-Backed Elastic Block Storage for EC2. We published Episode #91 of the AWS Podcast. The AWS Security Blog talked about Federating Identity Management at Netflix with OneLogin. Wednesday, June 18 The Amazon Mobile App Distribution Blog published a launch-day blog post to Announce the Amazon Fire Phone. To learn more about the Fire, watch the press conference and watch Amazon founder Jeff Bezos Introduce Fire Phone. We published a new video to show you how Cycle Computing is doing High Performance Computing in the Cloud. The engineering team at Monetate wrote a blog post to explain how they Saved Time & Money by Moving Product Recommendations from Hadoop to Redshift. Thursday, June 19 We announced that the EC2 Service Limits Report is now available. We published an updated version of cfncluster. This is a sample code frame that deploys and maintains HPC clusters on AWS. Friday, 20 We announced a new Education & Research Category in AWS Marketplace. We announced that you can now Process Captions With Amazon Elastic Transcoder. The AWS Security Blog announced that Amazon Elastic MapReduce Provides Support for Federated Users. Last week the AWS Marketplace added new products including Snip2Code, IdP, and MariaDB on Ubuntu. Stay tuned for next week!
