The Comprehensive Learning Journey

The Amazon WorkSpaces Migrations Badge comprises five progressive courses plus a comprehensive certification exam. The courses progress from migration strategy through deep technical implementation, covering the complete journey from assessment to steady-state operations on AWS.

Course 1: Migration Approaches & Strategy (45 minutes)

Learn to assess existing VDI environments, identify migration triggers, choose between lift-and-shift and modernization approaches, and map user personas to the right pathway. You’ll walk away with a practical migration readiness framework.

Course 2: Introducing Amazon WorkSpaces Core (30 minutes)

Understand how WorkSpaces Core enables third-party VDI solutions to run on AWS-managed infrastructure. Compare the two provisioning options — Core Bundles and Core Managed Instances — and apply a decision framework to select the right approach for your migration scenario.

Course 3: Citrix on Amazon WorkSpaces Core (60 minutes)

Architect and deploy Citrix environments on WorkSpaces Core. Covers VPC design, Machine Creation Services (MCS) for persistent and non-persistent workloads, identity integration, the Citrix Studio administrative experience, and cost optimization strategies.

Course 4: Horizon on Amazon WorkSpaces Core (60 minutes)

Explore the broader WorkSpaces Core partner network, including WorkSpot, Dizzion and Leostream. Covers partner solutions for persistent desktops, hybrid VDI, and rapid Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) migration. It includes a comparison framework to match organizational requirements to the right solution

Earn Your Badge: The Certification Exam (90 minutes)

After completing all five courses, learners demonstrate their migration proficiency through a comprehensive certification exam. The assessment validates understanding across migration strategy, WorkSpaces Core architecture, partner-specific deployment models, identity integration, and cost optimization.

Candidates must achieve 80% or higher to earn the Amazon WorkSpaces Migrations Badge. Credly issues badges within two weeks of passing.

Prerequisites

We recommend completing the Amazon WorkSpaces Specialty Badge before starting the Migrations Badge pathway. The Specialty Badge provides the foundational WorkSpaces knowledge that the Migrations Badge builds upon. Familiarity with at least one third-party VDI platform is also recommended.
