Catch a first glimpse of Hello Kitty AR: Kawaii World

She’s arguably the most famous pop culture icon in the world. The much-loved Hello Kitty character, founded by the Japanese Sanrio company, is one of the highest grossing media franchises in the world, instantly recognizable by fans everywhere. This month is Hello Kitty’s 45th birthday, and Sanrio is celebrating by teaming with Sweden-based game studio, Bublar, to unveil the worldwide launch of Hello Kitty AR: Kawaii World.

In the location-based Augmented Reality (AR) mobile game, real world buildings, roads, and parks will be transformed into the fantasy world of Kawaii featuring Hello Kitty and her adorable friends. “Since her debut in Japan in 1974, Hello Kitty has inspired generations of people around the world with her positive message of friendship and kindness” says Jiro Kishimura, Managing Director of Sanrio Co Ltd. “With this game from Bublar, our dedicated fan base will be able to play with her and the Sanrio characters through their smartphones wherever they are in a mixed-reality experience. We are happy to continue sharing the joy of Hello Kitty and the Kawaii lifestyle.”

To connect Hello Kitty’s worldwide fan base with the imaginary world of Kawaii, Bublar is relying on global infrastructure to match. “We continue to develop the game on our proprietary Bublar engine, and we’re happy to have AWS onboard as our cloud provider of choice. We’ve been using AWS for all our existing product infrastructure, including Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), and plan to extend this usage to include Amazon Aurora specifically for Hello Kitty AR: Kawaii World” says Maria A Grimaldi, CEO of Bublar Group.

As of today, Hello Kitty fans can pre-register for the soft launch happening in the first half of 2020. In the lead up to the launch, pre-registered fans will have the opportunity to be among the first to take part in gameplay and receive the latest news, competitions, and stay informed of other Hello Kitty AR: Kawaii World updates.
