Case Study: BurdaForward prevents overprovisioning and delivers cost transparency on AWS

Digital publisher BurdaForward, an arm of Hubert Burda Media, is an online publisher with 800 employees and locations in eight German cities. Its brands include the Focus Online News portal, Digital Tech Site Chip.de, Lifestyle Magazine Bunte.de and many others, reaching more than 21 million unique users each month. BurdaForward sought to update its infrastructure to increase flexibility and accelerate innovation, while at the same time reduce over commitment and optimize costs by automating capacity scaling.

With AWS and AWS Partner Valiton GmbH, BurdaForward built a solution using services including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) to provide secure, resizable compute capacity in the cloud, and Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling to maintain application availability during peak traffic. Read the full case study to learn how BurdaForward reduced its infrastructure costs by 65%, increased infrastructure observability, and reduced portal response times.
