Announcing the keynote speakers for the AWS Summit – Washington, DC

The AWS Summit – Washington, DC keynote will be hosted by Max Peterson, vice president of public sector at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and kick off on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 11am ET. Registration for the event is still open and at no cost.

In this address, Peterson will take a look at the latest innovative advancements happening across the public sector and share key learnings on how organizations like yours can continue to push boundaries with the cloud. He’ll be joined on stage by guest speakers who will explain how they are leveraging the cloud to further drive their missions.

United States Air Force
Lauren Knausenberger is the chief information officer (CIO) for the Department of the Air Force, which is comprised of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. Knausenberger leads two directorates and supports 20,000 cyber operations and support personnel around the globe with a portfolio valued at $17 billion. She provides oversight of the Air Force’s Information Technology (IT) portfolio including the IT investment strategy from networks to cloud computing, enterprise policies, information resources management, IT innovation initiatives, information assurance, and other related matters. She also delivers cybersecurity and enforces Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act laws. Knausenberger integrates Air Force warfighting and mission support capabilities by networking and securing air, space, and terrestrial assets.

Utah Department of Human Services (DHS) Office of Recovery Services (ORS)
Liesa Stockdale is the director of Utah’s ORS, which houses both Utah’s child support program and the state’s third-party liability recovery program on behalf of Medicaid. She began her career in child support enforcement with Utah’s ORS in 1994 and held previous roles focused on casework, policy and training supervision, and paternity establishment methods. In 2019, Stockdale initiated and was responsible for leading the modernization of ORS’s 25-year-old, COBOL-based, Mainframe case management system in partnership with Deloitte and AWS.

Reddymade Architecture and Design and the Smithsonian
Artist Suchi Reddy brings extensive experience in large-scale cultural, educational, healthcare, retail, commercial, and residential projects to the award-winning practice, Reddymade. She founded Reddymade in 2002 with a human-centric approach to design, dedicated to celebrating diversity and equality, as well as addressing the economic, social, environmental and cultural impacts of her work on both the user and the planet. Reddy’s artwork “me+you,” is an interactive sculpture powered by AWS artificial intelligence (AI) services that will be unveiled in the rotunda of the Smithsonian’s Arts & Industries Building in Washington, DC in fall 2021.

Join the closing fireside chat, “Paving the Way: Transformation of Healthcare Delivery,” at 4pm ET. The chat will be moderated by Max Peterson and feature special guest Dr. Shafiq Rab, executive vice president (EVP), chief digital officer and CIO of Wellforce.

During the chat, the two speakers will weigh in on the latest advancements in healthcare and share industry predictions as healthcare delivery continues to transform. They will also explain how these rapid innovations are contributing to opportunities across the public sector worldwide. Earlier this year, Wellforce announced they were migrating their digital health ecosystem to AWS.

Wellforce
Dr. Shafiq Rab is the EVP, chief digital officer, and CIO of Wellforce. He is responsible for overseeing the organization’s unified IT system that supports its workforce and consumers. Rab joined Wellforce with the goal of developing a digital roadmap for the system and helping plan for the implementation of Epic’s electronic health record platform. Previously, Rab held CIO positions at Rush University, Rush University System for Health, and Hackensack Meridian Health Network. He has deep experience with Epic, along with other information systems, and has led the implementation at four different health systems. Rab leads with the belief that all of us—physicians, nurses, environment services professionals, registration and billing specialist, transporters, members of our community that we serve, everyone—play important roles in the mission of our health system.
