AWS Disaster Response Program: Enhance Your DR Capabilities

Many nonprofits are called upon in mission-critical situations, when they don’t have time to waste on IT because lives may be on the line. The new AWS Disaster Response Program enables disaster response organizations access to cloud services at the edge, even in the harshest conditions.

Governments and nonprofit organizations worldwide can take advantage of AWS technologies and expertise to tap into AWS infrastructure at the edge – and complete tasks that previously would have required expensive up-front and ongoing investments in workforce and technology. Specifically, the AWS Disaster Response Action Team will assess the impact of a disaster on a community and the needs of the customer to determine how to best help response efforts.

AWS may support organizations in various ways, including providing access to AWS services at the edge, making critical datasets available, and sending the AWS Disaster Response Action Team, which is a group of employee volunteers with technical expertise, to engage directly with response organizations. We will also issue credits to participating organizations on a case-by-case basis, for up to 30 days.

With the AWS Disaster Response Program, customers can focus on mission-critical functions, while AWS provisions critical data and applications, transports hardware to the base of operations, and implements deployable infrastructure based on customer need.
