Overview

Human Managed wanted to scale its Intelligence Decisions and Actions (I.DE.A.) platform, so the company turned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to build a near real-time, serverless foundation. Using AWS, Human Managed cut threat response time by over 97 percent, reduced internal infrastructure workload by 60 percent, and helped one of Southeast Asia's largest banks lower network security violations by 90 percent.

About Human Managed

The company is a cloud-native data and AI service platform that improves decision efficiency for cyber, digital, and risk outcomes. It serves businesses of all sizes, providing visibility into their enterprise data and delivering customized intelligence and recommendations for smarter decisions and faster actions.

Opportunity | Introducing a Decision-Centric Platform for Enterprise Risk and Security

Originally launched as a data analytics platform focused on visibility, Human Managed quickly recognized that insight alone was insufficient. Its customers—spanning finance, government, and education—required more than information. They needed clear guidance on what decisions to make and how to act on them in real time.

Karen Kim, CEO at Human Managed, explains, “Even with the right insight, if the right decision isn't taken, the outcome doesn't exist. Our mission evolved from simply surfacing intelligence to helping our customers act on it meaningfully.” This realization led to the development of the I.DE.A. platform by Human Managed, designed to unify intelligence, decisions, and actions from across more than 40 telemetry sources into a single framework. The platform’s goal is to help customers respond to threats and enterprise risks in near-real-time.

The company initially adopted AWS solely to provide cloud infrastructure during early platform development. As demand grew, it saw an opportunity to scale more efficiently by evolving its architecture to support near-real-time automation, reduce delays in security response, and ease operational load on internal teams.

Solution | Transitioning from Infrastructure to Intelligent Orchestration

Building on its existing AWS foundation, Human Managed chose to expand its adoption to support the platform across data and security layers. What started five years ago with basic infrastructure services has evolved into a strategic collaboration—powering enterprise-scale ingestion, transformation, analytics, and orchestration.

Event-driven workflows built with AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, and Amazon EventBridge automate key processes—from large-scale data ingestion to real-time threat response. Human Managed also uses Amazon SageMaker to train and deploy machine learning models for dynamic threat detection and contextual risk scoring. It coordinates its core infrastructure using Dagster, with data orchestration through Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK). For container orchestration and elastic compute, it utilizes Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).  Additionally, services like AWS Glue support lightweight extract, transform, and load (ETL) operations, further streamlining data handling and reducing operational load on internal teams.

Previously, Human Managed relied heavily on internal resources to manage infrastructure. Since adopting AWS Enterprise Support, operational efficiency has improved, backed by deeper technical guidance, architectural optimization, and faster issue resolution. The company received direct access to technical account managers, optimization insights, and hands-on guidance to evolve both its architecture and operations. With AWS Enterprise Support, the company not only optimized its cost structure but also accelerated solution development.

Roshanara Basheerudin, director at Human Managed, shares, “We’re no longer on our own trying to figure things out. With AWS, we’ve gone beyond the basics—optimizing spend, improving performance, and enabling new go-to-market strategies.”

Outcome | Reducing Response Time and Elevating Customer Success

The Human Managed I.DE.A. platform now operates on a cloud-native, near-real-time architecture that supports high-volume data processing and automated decision workflows.  Each month, the platform ingests over 1.2 petabytes (PB) of uncompressed security data and processes more than 3 billion events each day. With automation built on AWS, Human Managed has also reduced delays in security responses, cutting mean time to respond (MTTR) by 97.8 percent for phishing incidents and 97.9 percent for Distributed denial of service (DDoS) events. At the infrastructure level, Human Managed further increased its AWS Savings Plan utilization from 60 percent to 98 percent, ensuring nearly all eligible workloads are cost-optimized.

With AWS managing the heavy lifting, the company reduced its operational load by 60 percent, giving teams more time to innovate and respond to customer needs. The platform now monitors over 100,000 enterprise assets, giving customers near-real-time visibility to support compliance and infrastructure health.

These improvements also shaped customer outcomes. One of the largest banks in Southeast Asia, and the company’s most active platform user, transitioned from reactive defense to decision-centric security operations. By consolidating visibility across hybrid environments and integrating automated threat detection and response, the bank reduced network security violations by 90 percent and accelerated incident response from months to minutes, maintaining compliance and protecting millions of users across its regional operations.

Looking ahead, Human Managed is preparing to enter its next phase of growth. The company is now expanding its AI-driven capabilities by integrating Amazon Bedrock into its model context protocol (MCP) framework, enabling the development of enterprise-grade generative AI agents for use cases such as summarization of security events, intelligent and contextual querying, cross-source analysis and decision support, and risk and compliance automation. With foundational models hosted in Amazon Bedrock and seamless integration with existing AWS-native data flows, Human Managed is well positioned to orchestrate intelligent agents across the enterprise at scale.

Kim concludes, “Our infrastructure, intelligence, and experimentation capabilities are stronger because of AWS. We can now deliver faster, scale smarter, and stay aligned with the needs of data-driven enterprises.”
