AWS Previews and Pre-Announcements at re:Invent 2018 – Midnight Madness

Voiced by Polly

As promised in Welcome to AWS re:Invent 2018, here’s a summary of the launches and previews from Midnight Madness:

Launches
Here are detailed blog posts & whats new pages for last night’s launches:

Amazon S3 Batch Operations
This upcoming feature will allow you to make large-scale, parallel changes across millions or billions of S3 objects with a couple of clicks. You will be able to copy objects between buckets, replace object tag sets, update access controls, restore objects from Amazon Glacier, and invoke AWS Lambda functions. Sign up for the preview.

EFS Infrequent Access Storage Class
As part of a new Lifecycle Management option for Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) file systems, you will be able to indicate that you want to move files that have not been accessed in the last 30 days to a storage class that is 85% less expensive. The new storage class is totally transparent. You can still access your files as needed and in the usual way, with no code or operational changes necessary.

Stay Tuned
I am looking forward to writing about each of these services when they are ready to launch, so stay tuned!
