AWS Week in Review – November 12, 2012 Let’s take a quick look at what happened in AWS-land last week: Monday, November 12 We launched a new AWS Region in Sydney, Australia. Tuesday, November 13 I published a new episode of The AWS Report, featuring John Smiley of the Amazon RDS team. We announced four new cache node types for Amazon ElastiCache. We now support archiving of Amazon S3 data to Amazon Glacier. Wednesday, November 14 We started three new developer blogs (Mobile, Ruby, and Java). We published 17 Amazon Simple Workflow Recipes. Thursday, November 15 Another episode of The AWS Report, Adam Gray talks about Elastic MapReduce. We introduced Range Retrieval for Amazon Glacier. We went behind the scenes of a presidential campaign to see how they used AWS. We announced that AWS CloudFormation now supports user-defined resources. We announced that RDS Provisioned IOPS is now available in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) Region. Friday, November 16 We announced that AWS is certified to run the SAP Business Suite for production applications. We released a new white paper, Development and Test on Amazon Web Services. We added two new case studies! TinyCo is a mobile gaming startup. Sage Software uses AWS to provide faster access to infrastructure for their training and consulting engagements. We added a Big Data category to the AWS Marketplace, as well as products from NGINX and ScaleOut Software. Stay tuned for next week!
