AWS for Industries

Read All About It: AWS Travel and Hospitality

The travel and hospitality industry is going through massive change, driven largely by disruption of legacy business models and rapid advancements in technology (e.g. ML/AI). At the same time, competition and consumer expectations are greater than ever. Companies are using technology to get and stay ahead but for many, understanding and implementing cloud technology can be overwhelming. It’s in this spirit we decided to launch content within the AWS for Industries Blog dedicated to sharing cloud technology learnings and best practices — specific to the travel and hospitality industry. Readers will gain both insights and practical advice as they hear about how AWS is helping transform the industry.

We envision AWS Travel and Hospitality blog content as a trusted way for business decision makers across the industry to learn and stay up-to-date on the latest news and trends relating to AWS and cloud technology. You’ll hear from AWS experts with deep experience in the industry along with technical experts who are working directly with top companies and solving real business challenges. And you’ll hear directly from actual AWS customers as to how they’re solving business problems and transforming their business through AWS. The blog provides authors an opportunity to share their point of view on relevant, timely topics in an informal and consistent fashion.

The Travel and Hospitality industry encompasses a broad range of companies including airlines and airports; restaurants; accommodation and lodging; trains and cruise lines; technology services and solution providers. It also includes companies of every size from large Fortune 500 companies to startups. While these companies are diverse and face unique challenges, what travel and companies of every size and stripe have in common is an innate desire to optimize their operations and enhance their customer experiences. Sharing insights, news and success across the industry we hope will be both inspiring and impactful.

In the fullness of time, we plan to address many relevant topics across travel and hospitality. These include topics like creating personalized and connected experiences and delivering best-in-class customer service. We also will showcase how companies are optimizing their core operations — whether that be planes and trains running on time, kitchens running smoothly and effective orchestration of housekeepers, shift workers and the like. And you’ll also hear how moving to the AWS Cloud has enabled customer to dramatically lower IT costs and devote more time to differentiated offerings and innovation.

Travel and hospitality blog content will also highlight and dive deep into key AWS updates and events – and highlight its relevancy for the industry. If a major new product or feature is launched, expect to see a piece explaining how travel and hospitality can capitalize. And you can expect an industry-specific lens applied to previews and/or recaps of AWS events including re:Invent, AWS’ annual conference featuring technical sessions, chalk talks, keynotes, and more.

While we plan to compile insights from through-leaders across a range of relevant topics — we want to hear from you as well. Whether it’s proposing new topics, asking questions specific to a post or adding to the conversation — we want you to be part our growing community. You are more than welcome to add to the conversation with comments and suggestions. We’re excited to get started and hope you will follow, and join in on, the conversation. Check back on the blog and the AWS Travel & Hospitality webpage for the latest.
