AWS looks to the future of M&E ahead of NAB 2023

2023 marks 100 years of the annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) conference and exhibition, an amazing milestone considering the state of the media and entertainment industry (M&E) today. The rise of cloud-connected workflows has certainly opened up new possibilities, and as we prepare for our annual trek to Las Vegas, Amazon Web Services (AWS) looks forward to celebrating achievements enabled by the cloud as well as those to come April 16-19 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC), in the West Hall, booth 1701.

NAB attracts the best and brightest of our global community of executive, business, technical and creative teams. It’s a time to learn about and recognize the latest advancements in content creation, production, and broadcast, as well as post-production, acquisition, content distribution and delivery, display systems, management systems, radio, and more.

With so much to take in, it can be a challenge to see it all, but luckily, the two-story AWS booth at the West Hall entrance is hard to miss. Here, together with our AWS Partners, we’ll showcase how AWS for M&E can help customers effectively create, deliver, and monetize content anywhere and everywhere. We’ll also highlight our customers’ journeys and successes in the cloud, with specific focus on content production, broadcasting, media supply chain, direct-to-consumer streaming, data science and analytics, and cost optimization. Along with featuring AWS Partners in our booth, we’ll be hosting the AWS Partner Village, a collection of demo pods.

New developments in live sport are also driving innovation across the M&E industry. Highlighting a convergence of technologies at NAB, AWS will host a Free Kick Challenge in the West Hall lobby of the LVCC in partnership with the Las Vegas Women’s Soccer League. Visitors to the experience can kick a real-world goal; see their stats and instant replays through a solution enabled by AWS artificial intelligence (AI) / machine learning (ML) services and AWS Partner Broadcast Solutions; get a digital playing card; and donate to a local charity. In the Central Lobby, we’ll host live and recorded video podcast sessions exploring key industry and event topics with AWS partners and customers from a portable, purpose-built shipping container.

As sustainability remains top of mind for our industry heading into the show, we’re thrilled to be the exclusive sponsor and partner for NAB Show’s first Excellence in Sustainability Awards, which will be presented during a special ceremony on the Main Stage at NAB on April 16. The program recognizes individuals, companies, and products for outstanding innovations in M&E that promote conservation and reusability of natural resources and foster economic and social development. In addition to the environmental benefits inherently associated with running applications in the cloud, AWS is committed to powering its business with 100 percent renewable energy by 2030 and is on a path to reach that target as soon as 2025. We’re excited to recognize other companies and individuals progressing sustainability in the M&E industry.

On Tuesday, April 18 from 8:30-9:30am in the West Hall Lobby, AWS will host its third Women in M&E breakfast in collaboration with NAB and sponsors WICT network and Comcast Technology Solutions. The event presents a great opportunity to share industry insights and build community.

NAB 2022 established the event’s in-person return and attracted more than 52,000 people from around the globe. With the world continuing to adjust to our new normal, attendance is expected to grow this year, further augmenting opportunities to connect with peers and colleagues and discover transformative technologies for M&E.

AWS looks forward to attending NAB 2023 in full force and showcasing how our services and solutions can help customers transform media workflows.
