How the Bundesliga brings fans closer to the match using AWS

Bundesliga, Germany’s premier national football league, uses artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), analytics, compute, database, and storage services from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver real-time statistics that improve insights into game strategy and outcomes, and recommend personalized content for fans and partners across  several channels.

Alexander Altenhofen, Bundesliga’s Director of Product & Technology, breaks down how the Bundesliga uses AWS to engage fans and enhance the broadcast experience. Using AWS, the Bundesliga provides advanced real-time statistics and in-depth insights called Bundesliga Match Facts. Two examples of Bundesliga Match Facts are Keeper Efficiency and Ball Recovery Time.

With over 500 million Bundesliga fans around the world, viewers gain insights into their favorite players and teams with Bundesliga Match Facts. In addition, Bundesliga uses AWS machine learning, AI, analytics, and other innovative technologies to improve the broadcast product and implement new distribution formats to increase the global Bundesliga fan base. Using AWS Media Services, Bundesliga games are streamed with more flexibility and interactivity than ever before to global fans. Viewers can access live and time-shifted event streams on the IP-connected devices they prefer.
