Adverity Turns to Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS to Speed Up Data Management and Support Growth
Executive Summary
Adverity helps businesses automate how they connect, manage, and use data so they can make decisions faster, and it needed an easier way to onboard customers and manage increasingly large datasets. It chose Snowflake Data Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate customer onboarding and minimize time spent on infrastructure maintenance, so it could focus on providing the most useful insights for its customers.
Blending More than 600 Data Sources to Deliver Actionable Insights
Adverity provides an integrated data platform for connecting, managing, and using data at scale to companies around the world. Its platform automates complex data integration and governance processes, enabling businesses to blend disparate datasets such as sales, marketing, and advertising from more than 600 sources to provide a single source of truth about commercial performance.
From the start, Adverity built its services as cloud-first—working on AWS—and using a variety of services, including databases, data lakes, and Amazon Aurora, which provides high performance and availability at a global scale with full MySQL and PostgreSQL compatibility. As its customer base grew, Adverity’s customers adopted more data sources and increased their workloads. To handle this, the company turned to Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS to provide an additional, easy-to-use, fully managed, secure, and high-performing service to maximize the effectiveness of Adverity’s customers’ marketing data.
However, Adverity’s growth presented more challenges to its infrastructure. First, as its platform matured and attracted larger customers, onboarding often involved ingesting far more streams of data with higher granularity for storage and analysis. Second, customers were demanding more advanced analytics capabilities, which further increased Adverity’s need for greater amounts of compute capability. Finally, the growing number of customers alone—regardless of size—increased workloads on AWS.
Adverity chose AWS Partner Snowflake and its service Snowflake Data Cloud to help overcome these challenges. Snowflake works alongside AWS to develop industry solutions and deeper product integrations. Its solution is optimized for, and runs 10 percent faster on, AWS Graviton-based instances.
It’s been fantastic for the business and has made life so much easier for engineering—the technology just works.”

Choosing the Snowflake Data Cloud to Support Hypergrowth
After examining its customers’ existing solutions and the wider competitive landscape, Adverity chose Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS to support its data warehouse scaling demands. Snowflake provides a single, fully managed platform for customers to store and access all their data. “With such rapid growth, we knew we were going to face challenges sooner or later, and we had proactively started to run proofs of concept with various solutions in this space,” says Fabio De Bernardi, vice president of business development at Adverity. “This was a major strategic move for us, so we investigated the options and considered cost versus performance, and what was most popular with our existing customers. Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS was the clear winner in all categories.”
The move to Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS has made life easier across the business and made it possible for Adverity to focus on its customers. “It’s been fantastic for the business and has made life so much easier for engineering—the technology just works,” says De Bernardi. “It’s increased our confidence that we can deal with even the biggest customers with the most demanding data requirements.”
Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS uses Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), object storage built to retrieve any amount of data from anywhere, for scalability, data availability, security, and performance. It also integrates with a wide range of other AWS services, including Amazon Data Firehose and Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MKS) for data ingestion, AWS Glue and Amazon EMR for workflow management, as well as Amazon QuickSight and Amazon SageMaker for data science and business intelligence.
Adverity works with some of the world’s largest companies. It must smoothly manage massive amounts of data and meet quickly evolving customer needs. A typical customer might initially generate tens or hundreds of gigabytes of data, but as projects scale and customers see the opportunities made available to them by Adverity, this can quickly grow into multiple terabytes of highly granular data—ideal for advanced analysis and for high-capacity solutions such as Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS.

Moving Larger Customers to Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS for a Performance Boost
Adverity chose to move its larger customers to Snowflake’s Data Cloud first because they were most likely to benefit from the performance boosts. Using Snowflake Data Cloud on AWS, customers’ compute resources now scale instantly in response to increased demand from a marketing campaign or the seasonal peaks experienced by retailers. Running on the Data Cloud also means that Adverity can rapidly roll out new services because its team spends less time on day-to-day infrastructure maintenance.
Adverity is now working on deeper integrations with the rest of the marketing stack of applications that its customers use, such as Tableau, Power BI, and Looker. It is building services to give customers more functionality and help them to gain greater insights from their data. “With the capacity and flexibility we get from Snowflake on AWS, we can alert customers to trends they might not be aware of and weren’t looking for,” says De Bernardi. “This can help to answer questions that customers didn’t even know to ask.”
