Cellebrite Launches Cloud-Based Digital Intelligence Solution, Doubles Cloud Footprint Each Year through AWS Partner Transformation Program

Executive Summary

Cellebrite became an AWS Partner and participated in the AWS Partner Transformation Program (AWS PTP) to accelerate its cloud journey. The organization provides Digital Intelligence solutions to global customers. After its experience in the AWS PTP, Cellebrite launched its first software as a service solution on AWS GovCloud (US) in 2022, gained industry visibility, and doubled the number of opportunities between 2022 and 2023.

Responding to Growing Demand for Cloud Solutions

Cellebrite, a provider of Digital Intelligence solutions, has a clear mission: protecting and saving lives, accelerating justice, and preserving privacy in communities across the globe. The company partners with public and private organizations to transform how they manage data in investigations through solutions that use machine learning and other emerging technologies to help investigators identify patterns and discover clues and investigative directions quickly and accurately. Cellebrite solutions were used in more than 5 million cases across the globe.

Several years ago, to continue its digital transformation and accommodate customers moving to the cloud, Cellebrite chose to migrate to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and become an AWS Partner. “We are a successful company, but we were 100 percent on-premises,” says Malkit Hayun, vice president of business development at Cellebrite. “Cellebrite decided to invest in cloud and software as a service (SaaS) solutions, and becoming an AWS Partner was a key decision to help accelerate our cloud transformation.” As its cloud adoption grew, Cellebrite sought to continue its cloud journey and mature its relationship with AWS. “Moving to the cloud isn’t just about implementation; it’s about making sure the entire organization understands what is involved and the costs associated with migration,” Hayun says.

Accelerating the Cloud Journey with the AWS Partner Transformation Program

To achieve its goals, Cellebrite chose to participate in the AWS Partner Transformation Program (AWS PTP), a comprehensive assessment, training, and enablement program focused on helping partners build a successful and profitable AWS business. The program offers a multi-day workshop facilitated by a qualified third party, followed by a customized 100-day plan aligned to achieving a partner’s unique goals. “At a time when we decided to shift our products to the cloud, the AWS PTP was the right program to help us accelerate our cloud journey and design the best, most cost-optimized solutions,” says Gadi Rapaport, vice president of global IT at Cellebrite.

Through a series of in-depth interviews with AWS leaders and product managers along with Cellebrite stakeholders and participation in an AWS-led CFO Cloud Workshop, Cellebrite received a plan of activities to build and transform its cloud business. “The main thing the AWS PTP helped us achieve was getting everybody onboard and finding a shared terminology for our conversations throughout the entire organization,” Rapaport says. “That made cloud conversations more meaningful and made it easier to communicate and collaborate with all departments, including finance, operations, R&D, and human resources.”

Launching a New Investigation and Evidence Management Solution on AWS

Following its participation in the AWS PTP, Cellebrite worked closely with AWS to create and launch Cellebrite Guardian, a cloud application that simplifies and streamlines digital forensics processes for investigators, examiners, and prosecutors. Launched in 2021, Cellebrite Guardian runs on AWS GovCloud (US) to adhere to federal standards for hosting sensitive data and regulated workloads, and it uses AWS services including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) for compute and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) for data storage. “Because of the AWS PTP, we worked with AWS technical resources to build, optimize, and deliver our first SaaS application,” says Hayun. “Our experience in the AWS PTP helped us create a robust go-to-market strategy for Cellebrite Guardian.”

Gaining Industry Visibility through AWS SaaS Factory, ACE, and Co-Sell Programs

AWS PTP helped Cellebrite learn about and leverage additional AWS Partner programs, including the AWS SaaS Factory Program, the AWS ISV Accelerate Program, and the APN Customer Engagements (ACE) Program. ISV Accelerate and ACE provided Cellebrite with AWS co-sell support and access to AWS field sellers and customers across the globe. “AWS is indeed partner obsessed and made sure we had all the resources available to support our journey,” says Rapaport. “Our AWS Partner Manager introduced us to additional programs and worked with us hand in hand to become a co-sell partner, which has brought us better industry visibility.”

By participating in these additional programs, Cellebrite also received training and education for technical teams and AWS technical support, including a dedicated software architect and technical resources.

Doubling the Customer Base

Cellebrite has expanded its business and grown its revenue by becoming an AWS Partner. “With more than 100 qualified opportunities on ACE, we keep growing our sales network and we have greater visibility to AWS sellers,” Hayun says. “In addition, as a partner in the AWS ISV Accelerate Program, we continue to grow our co-sell motion with AWS, and we’ve started to engage more with AWS sales teams in the regions we operate in, primarily the United States, the United Kingdom, and Brazil. Cellebrite is also better equipped to help its customers move to the cloud. Cloud adoption can be challenging for public sector customers. Connecting with AWS sales teams and AWS Public Sector Partner Programs helped us work with our customers and leverage AWS cloud expertise at the state and local levels to bridge this gap.”

Overall, by collaborating with AWS through various partner programs like PTP, Cellebrite anticipate to increase the number of Guardian customers by 100 percent by end of 2023 . Next, the company plans to expand into new regions and offer its SaaS solutions via AWS Marketplace. “The AWS PTP was the first step in a highly successful partnership,” Hayun concludes. “Becoming an AWS Partner has transformed our business, and we are certain we’ll continue to grow faster with AWS.”
