Entrust Leverages AWS to Accelerate Access to Vital Insights by 400%

Entrust keeps the world moving safely by enabling trusted experiences for identities, payments, and digital infrastructure. Entrust sought to streamline core business operations, reduce costs, and accelerate access to valuable data insights for internal stakeholders. To achieve this, the company is rebuilding its analytics platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Entrust onboarded AWS consulting partner Charter Solutions to migrate its legacy system to the cloud with Amazon QuickSight and build a data Lakehouse. As a result, the company reduced complex data processing time and accelerated access to vital business insights for stakeholders.

Critical business data processing, management, and visualization required manual activity that was time consuming. A manual, protracted approach to accessing data routinely delayed analysis for internal stakeholders. To streamline its data and analytics access by moving data into a central location, Entrust decided to engage AWS Consulting Partner Charter Solutions to build a data Lakehouse.

Entrust had previously partnered with Charter Solutions to construct a data lake in AWS. Building on the success of this collaboration, Entrust engaged Charter Solutions again to build a Lakehouse. Entrust could then push data from its on-premises system into the Lakehouse for streamlined access, visibility, and reduced complexity across the organization. To achieve these goals, Charter Solutions helped Entrust set up its business intelligence system to migrate to the cloud with Amazon QuickSight.

In addition to constructing the Lakehouse, the experts at Charter Solutions worked with Entrust’s analytics and infrastructure teams to ensure that the data lake and Lakehouse could be seamlessly integrated for optimized data access and functionality. Charter Solutions also helped Entrust establish a strong proof of concept to demonstrate the value of migrating of their legacy system to key stakeholders.

Amazon QuickSight supported the development of visualizations that worked successfully across the Entrust infrastructure. Jodi Rehlander, a Charter Solutions consultant who worked on the implementation team for Entrust, elaborates on the value of Amazon QuickSight in this data transformation: “Without Amazon QuickSight, our engagement would not have been as successful. We moved everything over to the proper Entrust accounts without having to recreate everything.”

Cloud migration eliminated all manual processes and accelerated the visibility of valuable metrics for internal stakeholders across the organization. In one use case, data that would previously take over a day to be available for analysis, was now available multiple times a day, accelerating the timeline for data visibility by 400%. Entrust Chief Information Officer Rishi Kaushal elaborates on the tremendous value of this shift: “Stakeholders access the data they need to make decisions faster. The business stays focused on growth, rather than pulling data and merging from different platforms.”

Migrating Entrust’s analytics to a cloud-based platform reduced internal reliance on IT resources. The migration generated a plethora of easy-to-use self-service options available with AWS for data visualization, processing, and analysis. These user-friendly tools streamlined the ability to quickly create customizable visualization and metrics. With a pay-per-click structure, the cost to access analytics at Entrust also dropped.

Charter Solutions leveraged several AWS tools and solutions to help with the migration of the data platform for Entrust. From the vantage point of visualization, Amazon QuickSight was fundamental while AWS Glue and Amazon Redshift were essential to the Lakehouse infrastructure. Amazon AppFlow also simplified the ingestion of Salesforce data, cutting implementation time down by 4 to 6 weeks.
