Posted on: Apr 4, 2018

Amazon Transcribe is available for all customers. Powered by deep learning technologies, Amazon Transcribe is a fully managed and continuously trained automatic speech recognition service that automatically generates time-stamped text transcripts.

The Amazon Transcribe API makes it easy to convert speech to text. The service is able to detect different speakers in your audio with high accuracy and confidence to produce intelligible transcriptions so that you can clearly understand who spoke when. You can also expand and tailor the vocabulary of the speech engine by uploading a custom vocabulary to improve the accuracy of the speech recognition for product names, domain-specific terminology, or names of individuals.

Amazon Transcribe enables organizations to increase the accessibility and discoverability of their audio and video content. The service is useful across a breadth of use cases – customer contact centers can convert call recordings into text and analyze the data for actionable intelligence; media content producers can automate subtitling workflows for greater accessibility; enterprises/ legal firms that have archives of recorded meetings or court proceedings can make those archives accessible and searchable by transcribing them with time stamps; and marketers and advertisers can enhance content discovery and display more targeted advertising based on the extracted metadata (such as showing a sports shoe ad in the middle of a football match vs. a cooking show).

Amazon Transcribe is available in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and EU (Ireland), with more regions to follow. To learn more, visit the Amazon Transcribe product page.
