Posted on: Jun 20, 2018

You can now use Amazon Inspector to run security assessments on regulated workloads and sensitive data hosted on Amazon EC2 instances in the AWS GovCloud (US) region. Amazon Inspector is formally approved by the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Joint Authorization Board (JAB) as an approved vulnerability scanning tool for AWS services built on EC2.

Amazon Inspector is an on-demand security assessment service that helps AWS customers improve the security of their Amazon EC2 environment and the applications deployed on them. Inspector gives customers the flexibility to check EC2 instances for vulnerabilities and evaluate their instance configurations against security benchmarks any time they need. Inspector offers rules packages that allow customers to choose the type of security assessment they wish to run and provides an evaluation of the findings along with recommendations to improve the security of their instances.

Customers can start an assessment run with just a few clicks in the Inspector Management Console. With this launch, Inspector is available in US East (Northern Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Northern California), US West (Oregon), AWS GovCloud (US), EU (Frankfurt), EU (Ireland), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo).
