Posted on: May 28, 2019

Today we are announcing the availability of License Included (LI) Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for Windows Server version 1903 for Amazon EC2, providing customers with an easy and flexible way to get up and running with the latest version of Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel release. Windows Server 1903 adds features that are best suited for use cases that involve building modern container-based Windows applications, such as enhanced Kubernetes support.

By running Windows Server versions 1903 on Amazon EC2, customers can combine the scale, performance, and elasticity of AWS with the new capabilities in the Semi-Annual Channel release versions of Windows Server. Windows Server 1903 License Included (LI) AMIs are available in all public AWS regions and PDT (GovCloud), and can be launched directly from the Amazon EC2 console. The AMIs are available in two versions – a container version with all the relevant container features installed by default, and a base version with the default configuration. Instances running Windows Server 1903 AMIs are billed under the standard Windows pricing. To learn more and get started with Windows Server on EC2, check out the User Guide for Windows Instances.
