Overview
To drive growth for its digital healthcare platform, Health2Sync needed a highly scalable and reliable infrastructure that met regulations across multiple regions and integrated seamlessly with patient systems. The company turned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support its expansion and strengthen compliance. With AWS, Health2Sync now achieves 40 percent faster deployments, reduces management time by 50 percent, and continues to enhance security and reliability for patients and healthcare providers.
About Health2Sync
Health2Sync is a digital health platform that connects patients, devices, and care providers to manage diabetes and other chronic diseases, using real-time data and AI insights for highly effective, personalized care.
Opportunity
Addressing regional gaps in connected chronic care
Twelve years ago, a severe shortage of diabetes educators across Asia—just one for every 23,000 patients—prompted the creation of a software platform to help patients, hospitals, and clinics better manage diabetes and other chronic conditions. The platform, Health2Sync, now supports more than 1.6 million registered users and over 800 hospitals and clinics across Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia, and the United States.
To support ongoing growth, the company needed a scalable, reliable platform infrastructure that integrated easily with healthcare information systems, met regulatory requirements, and paved the way for innovation. “Our platform helps patients in a growing number of countries, and we wanted to ensure everyone gets the same high-quality, fully compliant experience,” explains Ed Deng, co-founder and CEO at Health2Sync. As more hospitals and clinics come on board, the number of integrations with patient record systems continues to rise. “From building the integrations to managing the infrastructure, simplicity is everything,” Deng adds. “That way, we can focus on improving our services.”
With AWS, we can deliver the scale, reliability, and compliance to help patients everywhere—it’s as simple as that.

Optimizing cloud architecture to scale secure healthcare services
To support regional and global expansion, Health2Sync chose AWS to power its platform infrastructure in compliance with healthcare standards such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the US. Deng recalls, “The combination of its compliance capabilities and the ability to deploy services quickly into our markets made AWS a natural choice for us.”
During deployment, Health2Sync worked with AWS Partner GrandTech Cloud Services to support its cloud operations in Taiwan. AWS Solutions Architects helped design and optimize the company’s cloud environments in line with best practices, and the team used the AWS Well-Architected Framework and AWS Security Hub to validate architecture designs and maintain continuous compliance. “At every stage, AWS was responsive to our needs and helped us review and refine our configurations,” says Deng.
Health2Sync uses Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) to run and scale its chronic disease management applications. It also uses Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for database management and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) for secure file storage. For data streaming between devices, the platform, and hospital systems, Health2Sync uses Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK), plus AWS WAF for web application protection and Amazon CloudWatch to monitor platform performance.
Seamless data exchange lies at the core of the platform’s architecture, connecting patients, devices, and healthcare providers. The Health2Sync mobile app collects data from connected devices via Bluetooth or near-field communication, while AI-driven applications analyze this data to deliver actionable insights and personalized recommendations. These insights are then shared with hospital and clinic systems through web-based integrations, supporting continuous patient monitoring. Deng says, “Our solution supports both sides of care, helping patients understand and manage their conditions while enabling clinicians to deliver more proactive and efficient treatment.”
Outcome
Driving growth while shortening deployment cycles by 40%
With its platform architecture running on AWS, Health2Sync can now focus on improving services rather than maintaining infrastructure or managing complex integrations. Streamlined development processes and regular updates have shortened deployment cycles by 40 percent, lowered management time by 50 percent, and reduced latency by 30 percent in markets such as Japan and Australia—all while consistently maintaining 99.9 percent uptime. The company has also reduced priority 1 and priority 2 incidents by 50 percent, strengthening reliability for patients and healthcare providers. “With AWS managing much of the infrastructure, our team can concentrate on development and innovation—everything our customers experience directly,” says Deng.
Health2Sync is also driving expansion through the AWS Global Infrastructure. The company is preparing to launch its platform on the AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region to extend its reach across Taiwan. Both platform deployment and local regulatory compliance are expected to be in place by 2026. “With an increasing number of people facing chronic diseases like diabetes, and with limited healthcare resources, Health2Sync can provide an answer,” Deng concludes. “With AWS, we can deliver the scale, reliability, and compliance to help patients everywhere—it’s as simple as that.”
