Overview

Banks are seeking faster and more efficient lending operations as customer expectations rise, and digital-first lenders continue to reshape the market. Nucleus Software built FinnOne Neo®, a cloud-native lending platform, on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help financial institutions modernize lending workflows while maintaining reliability and compliance. Using the platform, Bank of Sydney reduced loan application processing times by 97 percent, shortened broker loan agreement turnaround times by 95 percent, and reduced property desktop valuations from days to around 2 hours. The deployment demonstrates how financial institutions can modernize lending operations at scale while improving operational efficiency and customer experience.

About Nucleus Software

Nucleus Software provides cloud-native lending and transaction banking solutions to financial institutions worldwide. Its FinnOne Neo® platform helps banks modernize lending operations, supporting more than 200 financial institutions across 50 countries.

Opportunity | Simplifying modernization for digital lending

Traditional banks are under pressure to modernize as digital-first lenders process loan applications in minutes instead of weeks. However, transforming banking systems has traditionally been time-consuming and costly because fragmented legacy architectures limit automation and slow innovation. Nucleus Software, wanted to simplify modernization for banks and financial institutions through FinnOne Neo®, its cloud-native, API-first digital lending platform. Designed to integrate with legacy banking systems, the platform helps lenders accelerate loan processing while supporting compliance and scalability requirements.

To support growing customer demand, Nucleus Software needed infrastructure that could scale across regions, maintain consistently high performance during varying workloads, and accelerate product innovation. The company also wanted access to managed cloud services and technical support to reduce operational complexity for customers running the platform. “We didn’t want customers to spend a minute thinking about the technology underpinning their operations and whether it was up to the task,” says Vishal Kumar, head of Infrastructure Support Services at Nucleus Software. “Their focus needed to be purely on serving their customers better.”

Solution | Unifying lending operations across banking systems

Nucleus Software built FinnOne Neo® on AWS using a containerized, cloud-native architecture designed to support modern banking operations and integrate with existing financial systems.  With approximately 95 percent of its cloud deployments running on AWS, the company provides a proven cloud foundation for financial institutions modernizing lending operations.

Nucleus Software runs its workloads on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) provided reliable compute with scalable performance for banking operations. For storage, Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) supports documents, logs, archival data, and backups at petabyte scale.

its database architecture combines Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for Oracle as the primary transactional database and Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL as a cost-efficient open-source database option. The company is also migrating customer environments to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) to support scalable, cost-effective solution deployments.

One of the first implementations of the FinnOne Neo® platform was for the Bank of Sydney, which wanted to modernize lending operations amid growing competition from digital-first lenders and rising customer expectations. Using FinnOne Neo®, Bank of Sydney connected lending operations and core banking systems with its broker platforms, desktop valuation services, and solicitor systems, through secure APIs.

To support the rollout, Nucleus Software aligned platform integrations with existing Bank of Sydney systems while meeting local data residency requirements. The company provisioned isolated AWS testing environments on demand, supported parallel workstreams, and scaled infrastructure during migration cycles to keep implementation on track. Teams also worked closely with AWS Enterprise Support for proactive architectural guidance and 24/7 workload assistance. “AWS was critical to everything we delivered for Bank of Sydney, ensuring smoother rollouts, faster release cycles, and reduced risk,” says Kumar.

Outcome | Achieving 97% faster loan processing with FinnOne Neo® on AWS

By modernizing lending workflows with FinnOne Neo®, Bank of Sydney improved operational efficiency and customer experiences across its lending operations. The bank reduced loan application processing times by around 97 percent and shortened loan agreement turnaround times with brokers by around 95 percent. It also reduced property desktop valuations from days to around 2 hours. In the 10 months since deployment, the bank maintained nearly 100 percent reliability with zero security breaches, helping teams stay focused on customers rather than underlying technology.

“FinnOne Neo’s automation capabilities on AWS are empowering Bank of Sydney to accelerate loan approvals, optimize broker collaboration, and maintain a competitive edge in the Australian banking sector,” says Nilanshuk Haldar, global head of Partnerships and Alliances at Nucleus Software.

The Bank of Sydney deployment reflects how financial institutions in other markets are modernizing lending operations with FinnOne Neo® at scale. In India, non-bank lenders managing loan books of more than $20 billion use the platform to streamline lending workflows and improve operational efficiency. “The global scalability and resilience of AWS help us deliver consistent platform performance regardless of loan volumes or market conditions,” says Haldar.

Nucleus Software is now expanding FinnOne Neo® with AI and machine learning capabilities, including intelligent document classification, smart underwriting tools, and financial statement analysis within the loan origination process. The company is also working with AWS to develop AI-native observability and automated incident resolution capabilities to further strengthen platform operations. By offering FinnOne Neo® on AWS Marketplace, Nucleus Software is also simplifying procurement for organizations already investing in AWS.
